Board and trainProgram details
Looking for a powerful jumpstart to your dog’s training journey? Our 3-Week Bark Board & Train program offers immersive training tailored to your dog’s specific needs—all while they stay with our professional trainer in a home-like environment.
This program is designed for dogs who need focused attention on obedience, manners, and behavioral improvement, without needing to attend daily sessions.
Your dog will learn:
• Basic obedience: Sit, Down, Place, Recall, and leash walking
• Crate training and calm settling behavior
• Engagement and focus with their handler
• Real-world reliability—learning to respond in different environments and distractions
• Exposure to various settings, people, and sounds for better social adaptability
Unlike daycare or casual boarding, this is a structured training stay with daily sessions, rest periods, and tailored behavioral work designed to help your dog succeed outside the training setting too.
📚 Owner Involvement:
We believe in preparing you just as much as your dog. You’ll receive two 1-hour private lessons during the program to equip you with the knowledge and tools to maintain your dog’s progress at home. You’ll also receive a 1-hour in-home follow-up session to reinforce success in your environment.
We use a balanced training approach with humane tools such as prong or e-collars (based on your dog’s needs), ensuring clear communication and lasting change—not punishment.
Note: This program is not suitable for dogs with severe aggression, intense resource guarding, or extreme fear. An additional training week can be added for $1,000 if needed. · Listed price: $3,350.00
For dogs with deeper behavioral challenges, the 5-Week Bark Board & Train program offers a more intensive and customized experience. This immersive stay-in program is ideal for addressing long-standing or complex issues such as reactivity, separation anxiety, fearfulness, or resource guarding.
Your dog will stay in a home-like setting where our professional trainer works with them daily to reshape behavior and build new habits. This program includes:
• Obedience foundation: Sit, Down, Place, Recall, and leash manners
• Crate training, calmness around triggers, and behavior modification
• E-collar and prong collar conditioning (if appropriate for your dog)
• Confidence building and exposure to real-life distractions
• Structured rest and reinforcement periods to avoid stress and burnout
This extended program allows your dog to not just learn but internalize new behaviors and routines.
📚 Owner Involvement:
You’ll receive three 1-hour private lessons during the training to understand your dog’s progress and learn how to continue the training at home. After graduation, you’ll also get a 1-hour in-home follow-up session to support long-term success and smooth transition back into your lifestyle.
We follow a modern, balanced training approach, using humane tools and clear communication to guide your dog into making better choices. Our goal is to build trust, clarity, and consistent behavior that lasts well beyond training.
🚫 Note: Training tools are not included. This program is suitable for dogs with significant behavioral needs but not those with extreme, dangerous aggression toward humans. An additional training week can be added for $1,000 if needed. · Listed price: $5,350.00

I am beyond thrilled with the dog-sitting and training services that Criselda provided for my dog, Bluey! From the moment I met her, I knew Bluey was in great hands. Criselda is incredibly knowledgeable, caring, and professional. Not only did she take amazing care of Bluey, but she also worked with her on her training, which made a world of difference.
Criselda took the time to understand Bluey’s personality and specific needs. She created a comfortable and fun environment for her while also being firm and consistent with his training. It was clear that she has a deep understanding of dog behavior and training techniques, and I saw noticeable improvements in Bluey’s behavior after just a few days.
She kept me updated with regular photos, videos, and reports, so I always knew how Bluey was doing. Her communication was excellent, and she made me feel completely at ease while I was away. I truly appreciated how she went above and beyond to ensure Bluey was not only well-cared for but also engaged in learning new skills.
I can't recommend Criselda enough! If you're looking for someone who will treat your dog like family while providing expert training, she is absolutely the one to trust. Bluey is already showing so much progress, and I will definitely be reaching out to Criselda again for future dog-sitting and training needs!

A Bark Away helped us out with our anxious pup, Teddy. Criselda did an incredible job—patient and kind w/ Teddy and us (2 people who spoil our dog). We did a 3-wk course and learned a lot and witnessed so much improvement in the way our kiddo behaved and responded to commands. Like w/ all training, we still have a lot of work to do, and consistency is key, but Criselda helped us tremendously w/ a strong foundation and truly did a wonderful job. Teddy also really enjoyed her sessions w/ Criselda (and that's saying a lot because she doesn't usually trust humans haha). Would highly recommend, we're really happy we went with A Bark Away for training and will definitely be asking for her help if needed in the future for more training &/or pup sitting.

Criselda has taken care of our puppy Andy twice, one time at our house and one time at her house, in both cases for multiple days and including a training package. In both cases it’s been a great experience for Andy (and us!), and would definitely recommend her! It gives us a lot of peace of mind knowing that Andy is being well taken care of (all meals, walks, playtime, in one case giving medication) and we got plenty of text updates, pics and videos to ease our separation anxiety, and we can always tell he’s having a great time and is super happy to be with her.
The training has been great as well, with Criselda asking us what areas in particular we want to focus on and Andy definitely is better behaved / more trained every time he’s come back from Criselda. She also sends videos to us to train us on things we should do to keep up the work with Andy. As a bonus, spending time with Criselda’s dogs helps a lot with Andy’s socialization (+he got along great with them!).

We had an amazing experience with Criselda and A Bark Away NJ! We left Cherry with Criselda for roughly two weeks. Even though we were physically apart from Cherry, we always felt like we were close by -- we were provided with daily updates through pictures, videos and other feedback throughout the day. We also can't thank Criselda enough for the behavioral training she provided (Cherry has some anxiety issues) -- we've noticed so much change in such a short time! For anyone considering working with Criselda, we highly recommend doing so!
