A Pleasant Dog

I’ve been working with my rescue on separation anxiety for 3 years without any success…..until now! The team at A Plesant Dog is amazing! They have cracked the code on my dog! We even tell him to be “plesant” when we’re out on a walk as a nod to his training. For years I couldn’t even get the mail, which is 3 feet from our beveled glass front door without my dog screaming! Today he literally watched me drive away and happily went back to his place for his reward. We haven’t graduated just yet but we are closer in these two months than we have been in 3 years. We’ve spend thousands of dollars on medication, toys, trainers, and couldn’t leave the house without a meltdown (both him and me!) Not only can he do this at my house, he can do this at my parents house. A completely different environment!! We couldn’t be more happy with the team and their approach. I live in a completely different part of the country with very skilled trainers and behaviorists and my dog seemed to keep everyone puzzled. Come to find out my dog has a low tolerance for frustration which is different than the previous assumed anxiety. We’ve almost weaned him completely off his daily meds! If you think you’ve tried it all, done it all, read it all, and haven’t had success, it’s time to work with A Plesant Dog!!

I met with Roxi to discuss my dog’s behavior. I was very happy with our conversation and found our time to be very constructive and informational. She left me with work to do, improvements to make around the house and words of encouragement. They worked with me on payments, which was super helpful. It truly meant my dog could get the help he deserved. They are an asset to have in our community and I will continue to recommend them.

Jenn was able to make not only me feel comfortable but my dog as well. She took her time and asked insightful questions while ensuring that I remained comfortable. She added lots of new things to my toolbox for helping my reactive dog and helped me figure out next steps for helping him. She walked me through several new tools and referred me to people who can continue to help us! I loved her and, more importantly, Gus loved her!

Do you want a place that just 'gets it' when it comes to your reactive dog? Look no further! I literally drive an hour to get their services. They are one of the few places in West Michigan that I found that truly do force free grooming and positive training. They always ensure that there are no other dogs or people when our pup moves from a room to outside. Its been a breath of fresh air in a world that doesn't always fully understand what I and my pup needs are. For our very reactive pup who we adopted (knowing about her reactivity), its been the one place that we have found help and hope for our wonderful girl. Not to mention she LOVES it there and is so happy to see everyone (even if we started off barking and scared at everyone). While we are still in early days of (what I like to call reactivity recovery) training and grooming I do have hope that we will get to the point we can have cooperative care both seeing a vet (which we see a mobile vet there as we are outside of their travel areas) and eventually will get groomed. I cannot wait to see where we go but my hopes are higher than they ever have been that we can get our pup more comfortable around strangers and dogs. TL/DR: If you have a reactive dog that hasn't had luck anywhere else come here and give them a try at the very least. Its well worth the money for the progress and also the human support that comes along with it all too. Best investment we have made in our pet.
