A Very Good K9

Haley and Austin are the best! We have been working with them for over a year with both private lessons and their board and train program. My family and I are so pleased with how well they did with our Rottweiler, Fritz. Fritz had a great time training with them for 3 weeks and grew so much in his obedience and skills! Haley provided so much support so that my family could continue at home with what he learned during his training. I never hesitate to reach out to ask questions as they are always willing to help!

I couldn’t recommend A Very Good K9 enough to anyone looking to have a better relationship with their pup and more freedom for adventures! My GSD and I have been with the Averys since she was a few months old and she just completed a one month board and train. From the early stages of puppy training through our current training for Offleash stability and eventually therapy work, Austin and Haley have shown their knowledge and dedication with each step. I’m grateful for the tools they have given me through the process to have such a wonderful companion by my side. If you’re looking for private lessons, daycamp, or board and train options you wouldn’t be disappointed with these guys!

I don't even know where to start. A Very Good K9 changed our lives. I have my best friend back! There probably aren't enough characters allowed in this post to fully express our gratitude, but I'll try. Our Mini Aussie started developing reactivity when he turned around a year old. Suddenly he went from being the friendliest pup at our local dog beach to being an aggressive, unpredictable stress case. His aggression started to be directed at random people, not just dogs. He would just see someone he didn't like and chase, lunge, growl and nip at them. We could no longer take him off-leash and that made it really hard to give him the level of exercise and simulation that his breed requires. I was worried that my adventure buddy would have to live his whole life on-leash and separated from other people and dogs. My husband and I were distraught and tried everything we could think of, corrective leashes/collars, calming supplements, evaluations from two different vet's offices, a behavior evaluation from a animal behavior specialist, and sessions with a local dog trainer. Nothing was helping. Then Haley and Austin were recommended to me by a friend and we decided to send our dog to them twice a week for their day camp. I instantly got a good vibe from both Haley and Austin. They seemed to not only understand what our dog was going through, but offered me support and acknowledgement of how difficult this was for me as well. Before we even met in person, I had spent time on the phone with both of them while they talked through what they thought our dog was experiencing and how they could help us get him back on track. They believed that they could get our dog back to his old self and, though I wanted to believe them, I didn't fully trust that it could be possible. Over a few months they worked with our dog at the day camp and brushed up on his obedience and confidence. He slowly began to make progress, however we were still dealing with reactivity from him when we had him out around other people and dogs. Haley recommended we send him to them for a full 3-week board and train. Though we were initially wary of the cost, we decided it was worth a try. I can say now that it was the best investment we have ever made! Over the three weeks that our dog was with them, they sent us regular updates and photos detailing his progress. They got him fully trained on an ecollar and sharpened his obedience to a point. When we got him back he was a whole new dog! He was more confident and seemed to have a better understanding of what he expected from him. A couple months have passed since his board and train and we are back to all of our old activities. He is back at the beach with all of his friends and hasn't shown an ounce of reactivity to anyone. He stays in his "place" whenever he is told to, his recall is spot on, and he barely even barks at people/dogs when the walk past our yard. He is literally a perfect dog. It is incredible. So many people have expressed their amazement at our dog's transformation. I have passed A Very Good K9's website and email to many people who are currently struggling with their own dogs. I cannot thank Haley and Austin enough for what they have done for us. I have my best friend back and I know he will be able to have the life he deserves. <3
