FirstBarkPam was instrumental in training/showing us how to train our golden doodle from 8 weeks to 2 years old. The pup is now a fully certified service dog who helps his (power wheelchair dependent) handler with everything from retrieval of dropped items to medical assistance. Arizona's only ADI-accredited owner-train service dog program , and the nation's oldest service dog organization, founded in 1973. Based in Tucson with locations in Phoenix and Las Vegas, we train people to partner with their own dogs under the guidance of certified instructors. We offer service dog training across five disability disciplines, adult and puppy classes, and facility dog placement in schools, healthcare settings, and courtrooms. Pay-what-you-can fees make our service dog program accessible to all.

are these trained dogs available to prospective owners who are seniors without great cost?
Hey Susan, thanks for reaching out. We are an owner-train program, which means people train their own dogs with us, alongside our instructors. We are very low cost, and also have scholarships for those who need financial assistance. If you don't have a dog we can help match you with one as well.

When is the next class for beginners, the cost and is scholarship money available?
Handi-Dogs has classes for the general public . They also have a service dog program. Acceptance into the service dog program is based on several factors. I suggest visiting the web site for more information. Scholarships are only available for the service dog program.

It's an open enrollment setup. Classes are mixed but small. Don't know about scholarships but call them.

I am so happy to get help by Ability Dog! We have started with Helga my almost 2 years 8 months dog. On November last year, Helga has improved a lot in her behavior, specially around other Dogs. Helga and I had learned so many tips in how to walk by my side. Helga will be my service dog to detect my diabetes glucose. Also I am half deaf and she will assist me with that. I am so pleased in how Ability Dogs has helped us, the staff is very friendly, very professional trainers, Pam and Julie are being helping us a lot! Thank you Ability Dogs to change our lives!!! I am so grateful for a place like Ability Dogs. The staff and trainers are amazing people who really work with you and your dog to achieve your goals and strengthen bonds. Very unprofessional and total cash grab. We paid for a training bundle and only got to do one class because our dog does not respond to the type of training that they do. They asked us to pay for an additional class before availing the rest of the training from the original bundle. And then kicked our dog out of that class and refused to refund the rest of the payment stating it's past the 120-day limit. They do not answer their phones or have anyone in their office on regular business hours as if purposefully running out the clock on this 120-day limit. The Associate Director Rose is the most unprofessional of all, hanging up the phone when she couldn't explain why they decided to just keep the rest of the payment for training that our dog did not receive. This is not a trusted place of business and they practice theft of services. In addition, the trainers and training itself is poor quality. If you have a dog the size of a cat, maybe they'll be able to train your dog. But if you have a large-breed working dog, they just cannot work with you. They stole $$$ from us and refuse to be professional about it. I would not recommend this place at all. They are horrible, unprofessional scammers/thieves.
