Above the Standard Dog Training

We are so so incredibly happy with our experience with Jay Lear at above the standard dog training. We have a little high energy 6 month old pup that I brought to Emily and Jay initially for a 1 hour lesson on walking. Within a few minutes of watching Jay work with Lillie and then train me, I decided to go forward with the board and train. I was seriously so impressed during the initial lesson!!! I have never met a more knowledgeable, intuitive, passionate, and patient trainer! Jay communicated almost daily with videos and texts. I met him for very informative lessons during the training period. He helped train me which was so important !! I was so impressed with the quality of his training. His methods are brilliant yet logical. Lillie was so receptive to correction and is a much more enjoyable dog. Jay has continued to follow up with us if I had any questions! I highly recommend Jay, Jen and Emily!!! We hope to do some Saturday walks in definiak soon!

We had an amazing experience with Above the Standard Dog Training! Jay was our trainer, and we chose the in-home training program for our dog, Jolee. The results exceeded our expectations. Jay was incredibly knowledgeable, patient, and professional throughout the entire process. He not only worked wonderfully with Jolee, but he also took the time to teach us how to properly communicate and work with her ourselves. He willingly shared his knowledge and made everything easy to understand and apply consistently at home. Thanks to the training, Jolee is so much better mannered, more obedient, and overall a joy to be around. The transformation has truly been a success, and we couldn’t be happier with the experience. And, she has even partnered with us to find the right dogs for our home. She understands our commitment to adopting, and she has taken dogs with zero training from shelters and from tough situations - and has helped us cultivate incredible obedience and wonderful habits. Emily and her team are also the gold standard of responsible breeding. The dogs in her program are beyond amazing - brilliant service dogs and loving pets. We have two standard poodles from Emily Richardson at Above The Standard, and we truly could not be happier with our experience. All of her instructions were clear, detailed, and thorough, including guidance on training, transition, and care. We constantly receive compliments on how well-trained our girls are, and everyone who meets them absolutely loves them. It’s obvious that Emily genuinely cares about her dogs and the families they go to. She provides exceptional support to ensure a smooth transition and sets both the dogs and owners up for success.
