I highly recommend Joe to anyone looking for a kind, knowledgeable, and compassionate trainer. I reached out to him for advice about my son’s dog, who has been struggling with separation anxiety, and even though they live in another state, he generously took the time to talk through the situation and share his insights, which were very reassuring. It’s clear that he genuinely cares about helping dogs and their owners work through difficult challenges.

We have two female rescue dogs, ages nine and four. When the younger dog started showing some aggressive tendencies towards the older one, we didn’t know how to correct it ourselves and the problem only got worse until we found Joe. He took our pup and worked with her over the course of a month so that now she is very obedient and an absolute joy to have back home! The training was so effective that we are going to send the older dog for boarding and training so that they both can enjoy a happier home life. Joe and Bill absolutely love the dogs that they train and you can see it in every interaction. I cannot recommend Academy of Canine Excellence any higher!

If I have to be grateful for anyone’s it would be Joe. Our dog had what you would call fear aggression, he was very afraid of people/dogs. We couldn’t even leave our front yard without him having an episode. We had almost gave up until we met Joe. After communicating with him and figuring out the best choice for our dog, we decided to go with the board and training service. When we brought our dog to meet Joe, in not even 5 minutes he had him under control and calm, I knew right there this is where I want my dog. He went over the whole process with us, from the training, how he was training, his day to day, where our dog was going to be staying, making us feel at ease. When it was time for our boy to come home, I have never seen my dog more happy. His progress was amazing, between the basic training like: heel, sit, down, stay, etc. To what our biggest concern fear aggression, he now amazes me. He went over all the training with us in person with our dog, through all the commands and what we need to do to for our dog to keep him from going back to what he used to be. He went to stores with our dog, sending us videos showing the amazing progress that he was making with him! Than when it came our time with our dog at the end of the training, he went with us to public stores that teach us how to control and handle situations like this with big crowds, to make not only us, but our dog feel comfortable. I can now say, we are finally able to take our dog into public, greet him with new people, animals, and let people in our home. He always kept us updated with his progress, how he was doing, and what he felt was going to be needed for our dog. His communication with us never failed, he was always there when I had questions, or even just wanted to see how he was doing. The price it costed us to board and train our dog was the best price we had received, from multiple people, I would pay this price over and over again! With that being said, he not only built a relationship of trust with our dog, but he did with us! We are so please with him and the second chance at life he gave to our dog. Also, by making him feel safe and loved with the time he got to spend with him. Therefore, if I where to recommend a trainer to anyone, it would be Joe everytime!
