We are beyond grateful for Missy and the incredible impact she has had on our family. Our miniature labradoodle, Teddy, has always been full of energy, but as our daughter entered the toddler stage, things became overwhelming. Teddy struggled with impulse control and anxiety, and unfortunately, he had accidentally knocked our daughter over a few times. We found ourselves facing an incredibly difficult decision — whether or not we could keep him. Enter Missy. We enrolled Teddy in a 6-week board and train program with her, and the transformation has been nothing short of amazing. Missy not only helped Teddy gain confidence and impulse control, but she also gave us the tools and strategies we needed to make our home a peaceful place for both our child and our dog. Teddy now walks beautifully on a leash, responds well to commands, and is overall a calmer, more grounded dog. Most importantly, we were able to keep him as part of our family — something we weren’t sure was going to be possible before working with Missy. I've raised and worked with dogs my whole life, but then I got "M". M was unlike any dog I've ever had. He was fearful, had issues with stranger danger (people and animals), charging, barking and he ended up biting someone (generally appeared super aggressive). He was highly reactive and untrusting of people who weren't my family. I needed help and thankfully, after a long search, I found Active K9 Training Solutions. After explaining my situation, they recommended Missy. It took a bit for M to be comfortable, but Missy was patient and never pushed him. Missy kept M for 10 weeks as a board and train. She worked with him in all kinds of areas (turns out he loves parkour). She supplied so many different books, articles, videos, training opportunities for M and I to work together, confidence, ideas and happiness. I think the confidence is the best part, I am now confident taking my dog into public spaces and he is more confident being in those situations too. I decided I needed professional training help when I adopted a 2 year old cattle dog. I knew they were high energy dogs, and I’m a senior citizen that needs a well behaved dog for my own safety! Missy evaluated my dog and taught me about my specific dog, and what my dog needed from me in order to be a happy dog. Missy introduces lessons in small bites, each lesson building on the next, that allow us both to learn with confidence. She provides handouts with training details that I can refer to as often as needed to understand new concepts. She is always available between lessons to answer questions and provide encouragement! My Nanny has gone from a nervous, unsure, over protective dog to gaining self confidence every day! I’ve gotten multiple compliments on how calm and well behaved she is in multiple circumstances! All of Missy’s training is a positive experience for me and my dog!
