How do I potty train my new dog?

At Agoge K9 LLC, we understand that potty training your new dog can be a challenging and time-consuming process. However, with the right techniques and consistent effort, you can successfully potty train your pup and establish good habits that will last a lifetime. The first step in potty training your dog is establishing a consistent routine. This means feeding your dog at the same times each day and taking them outside for potty breaks on a regular schedule. Most puppies will need to go outside to potty every 2-3 hours and shortly after waking up, after meals, and before bedtime. When you take your dog outside for potty breaks, it's important to choose a designated spot and use a specific command, such as "go potty," to help them understand what you want them to do. Be patient and give them ample time to sniff around and find the right spot. Consistency is key in potty training, so reward your dog with plenty of praise and treats when they go potty in the right spot. On the other hand, if your dog has an accident inside, it's important to clean it up thoroughly and avoid punishing them, as this can lead to anxiety and other behavioral issues. Finally, it's essential to supervise your dog closely when inside, especially during the early stages of potty training. This may mean keeping them in a crate or confined area when you cannot supervise them directly. At Agoge K9 LLC, we offer a variety of training programs to help you and your dog establish good habits and overcome behavioral challenges. Our experienced trainers can work with you to develop a customized training plan that meets your specific needs and goals. Contact us today to learn more about our services and how we can help you and your dog succeed.

Question on Google
How do I choose the right dog for my family?

Choosing the right dog for your family can be daunting, but with careful consideration and research, you can find the perfect match. Here are some tips from Agoge K9 LLC to help you choose the right dog for your family: Consider your lifestyle: Before choosing a dog, consider your lifestyle and what type of dog would fit in best. Do you have an active lifestyle and enjoy spending time outdoors? Then a high-energy dog like a Border Collie or a Labrador Retriever might be a good fit. A smaller dog, like a Chihuahua or a French Bulldog, might be better if you live in an apartment with limited space. Consider your family members: If you have young children, it's important to choose a gentle and patient dog with kids. Breeds like Golden Retrievers, Labradors, and Beagles are known for their friendly and playful personalities and are great with kids. Research breeds: Research different breeds to learn about their temperament, exercise needs, and health issues. This will help you narrow down your choices and choose a breed that fits your family well. Consider adopting a dog from a local animal shelter or rescue group. These dogs are often already trained and socialized, and adopting a dog can be a rewarding experience. Meet the dog: Once you have narrowed your choices, spend time with the dog before bringing them home. This will allow you to see if the dog is a good fit for your family and if you are a good fit for the dog. Remember, choosing the right dog for your family is important and should not be taken lightly. You can find the perfect match for your family with careful consideration and research. If you have trouble training your dog, seek professional help from a qualified dog trainer at Agoge K9 LLC.

Question on Google
What are some common behavior problems in dogs, and how do I prevent them?

As a dog owner, it is important to be aware of common behavior problems that can arise in dogs and take preventative measures to address them. Here are some common behavior problems in dogs and ways to prevent them: 1. Aggression - Aggression in dogs can result from fear, anxiety, territorial behavior, or poor socialization. To prevent aggression, it is important to socialize your dog from a young age, avoid harsh punishments, and seek professional help if aggression becomes a problem. 2. Separation anxiety - Dogs with separation anxiety may become destructive or anxious when left alone. To prevent separation anxiety, gradually introduce your dog to being alone, provide plenty of exercises and mental stimulation, and consider crate training. 3. Excessive barking - Excessive barking can be a nuisance to you and your neighbors. To prevent excessive barking, provide adequate exercise and mental stimulation, teach your dog a “quiet” command, and avoid rewarding barking behavior. 4. Destructive chewing - Dogs may engage in destructive chewing behavior out of boredom, anxiety, or a lack of proper chew toys. To prevent destructive chewing, provide plenty of appropriate chew toys, supervise your dog whenever needed, and provide plenty of exercise and mental stimulation. 5. Jumping up - Dogs may jump up on people out of excitement or a desire for attention. To prevent jumping up, teach your dog to sit or stay when greeting people, avoid rewarding jumping behavior, and provide plenty of exercises and mental stimulation. Being aware of common behavior problems and taking preventative measures can ensure your dog is well-behaved and happy. If you are having trouble addressing any behavior problems in your dog, seek professional help from a qualified dog trainer or behaviorist like Agoge K9 LLC.

Question on Google
What should I feed my new dog?

As a dog training and boarding company, Agoge K9 LLC understands the importance of proper nutrition for your new furry family member. The right diet is essential for maintaining your dog's health and well-being. When selecting food for your dog, it's essential to consider their age, breed, activity level, and any health conditions they may have. Generally, a high-quality, balanced diet that meets your dog's nutritional needs is key. One option is to feed your dog with commercial food that meets the Association of American Feed Control Officials (AAFCO) standards. These foods have been formulated to provide your dog with the appropriate balance of nutrients. Look for a high-quality protein source as the main ingredient, such as chicken, beef, or fish. Avoid foods with fillers or byproducts, as these do not provide the same level of nutrition. You can also consider a raw food diet consisting of raw meat, fruits, and vegetables. This diet can provide a variety of health benefits for your dog, including improved digestion, healthier skin and coat, and a stronger immune system. However, it is important to properly handle and prepare raw food to avoid any health risks for both you and your dog. No matter what type of diet you choose for your dog, always provide them with fresh, clean water and monitor their weight and overall health. Consult with a veterinarian or a canine nutritionist to determine the best diet for your dog.

Absolutely amazing company!! If I could give more than 5 stars I would!! They take their time to talk to you and answer all your questions and concerns. The owner even took the time to speak to our breeder! He is so honest and knowledgeable and kind, you will not find a better company! We got an updated video every Friday while our sweet boy was “at school” and got to see his progress. When it was time to pick up our puppy after this first three week session they took the time of 2 1/2 hours of training me and letting me record so I can go back and review what I have just learned to continue at home til he comes back for his next training session in 5 months. I love how they say please call, text, shoot a video if you have any questions, concerns or even just want to give us an update. They’re very dedicated to your K9 & your family! As for my family we have a child with special needs and they take the time to get to know what is best for you, your family and your K9. I cannot say enough kind words for this wonderful company and staff of Agoge K9 LLC has. They’re now our family as we continue to take Cato for his training and then his service training! We will always advocate and thank this wonderful company for all they do and have done!

I am so thankful I found Agoge K9. Woody, my 3 year old Bloodhound was having resource guarding and dominance based aggression issues. Brian and Cody spent 7 weeks with Woody and he came home a completely different dog. He is now much happier and I am able to spend time with him without the fear I once had. Brian and Cody have walked me through every step of the way and have been so patient with me. It has been relieving to know that Brian and Cody are only a phone call or visit away if I ever need help in the future. I have had an amazing experience with Agoge K9 and would recommend them 100%!!

We are so very thankful to have found Agoge K9. Jasper, our Cattle dog/Husky mix was with Brian & Cody for 8 weeks. Jasper had displayed his fear through aggression & we knew we had to find a top notch, quality behavior modification program for him. And, we definitely did with Agoge K9!! Jasper’s behavior is so much better now & he enjoys having “jobs” - working through his new commands of heel, sit, down, & place. He’s more enjoyable to walk now since we’ve established who is actually the “pack leader” - us, not him. And, being able to have him in place on his cot will help when we have company over. So much of Jasper’s misbehavior was rooted in his belief that he was the “boss” and in charge. Brian & Cody are both incredibly knowledgeable in dog behavior & dog breed traits & they helped us with understanding the reasons for some of Jasper’s bad decisions. We can confidently recommend Agoge K9 and thoroughly appreciate Brian & Cody’s commitment & dedication in training Jasper!

I rescued my sweet Rusty in February of this year. I've had 5 rescue dogs, and I usually know what to expect. Ha! His itty-bittyness was a disguise! He is a biter 😞 I didn't want to rush into doing something I would later regret. So about 9 months later, he bit me so severely that I should have gone to the ER :,( of course, I didn't go). The next day, I started looking for an animal behaviorist, and, thankfully, found Brian and Cody! After talking to Brian, I was both encouraged and relieved. I chose the 4 week board and train option. I'm not sure who enjoyed themselves more, Cody or Rusty! And Rusty LOVED the treadmill 😀 (and I kind of think both Brian and Cody loved having Rusty around)! So I'm very grateful for the training and care these guys gave us! Rusty is a very high energy guy, so I bought him his own treadmill as an early Christmas gift! Rusty is very responsive to my commands and he loves his "place". Thank you, Brian and Cody!
