First time Belgian Malinois owner.. I went in knowing I would need help but not as much what I would need it on. We had Rodeo for around 6 months and everything was going ok outside of a few small issues. Then he started resource guarding me to my fiancé. This was an issue I had no idea about or how to deal with but felt there was no way I could do it alone. I was first referred to Scott who was awesome and we did a few week board and train. Rodeo came out a new dog obedience wise. We needed more help though from a handling perspective. I felt ok and confident but I was making little mistakes that I wouldn’t have figured out alone. My fiancé was totally over it and not enjoying the experience and pretty much terrified of the dog. Scott and Shelby saw this and were like “bring him back, we will do whatever we can to fix this we don’t want to see this dog rehomed” that’s pretty much where Akela K9 got my business for good. I drive and hour there and back because I don’t trust anyone else with my dog anymore. I know he likes it there with all the other dogs and I know he won’t develop any behaviors that I don’t want at the house.
