My boy came in, the wildest one in class. He was stubborn, barked at the others, pottied in front of everyone, took no interest in learing the commands, a horrible puller, and just wanted to party. He was the dog that made other parents feel better about their dogs. Now? After completing basic obedience and some one-on-one work, he's focusing, more patient, and doing his best to mind his manners. We can go on walks and pass others, he'll even lie down as they pass. A dream! We are eager to continue his training - thank you so much, Kristen and Tara!

If you’re looking for a place to take dog obedience classes, look no further. This is it. The classes hosted by All Ways Dog Training are the best classes in the area. I started out this year with a crazy dog - an Afghan hound no less. You know, one of the breeds that comes up over and over again in discussions of the most untrainable breeds out there. I couldn’t enjoy walks with her because of how dog-reactive she was. Plus, she was so fearful I could barely get her potty trained since the moment I took her out to go, she would completely break down and freak out about every little sight and sound outside. I couldn’t even get her to learn basic commands like “sit” or “down.” I tried taking classes at Petco and those were a disaster. She actually seemed worse and more dog reactive afterwards. To make things worse, my dog was a screamer and whined, howled, and barked for the entire duration of each Petco class. To call it embarrassing would be an understatement. Then I tried All Ways Dog Training. We started off taking ‘Basic Obedience.’ Lo and behold after just one or two classes she understood “sit” and “down!” She even started to learn “stay.” By class three, my dog had stopped screaming during class (a miracle) and was starting to learn to ignore all the other dogs in class with her (could this be a possible end to her dog reactivity?!). By the time we finished all six weeks of Basic Obedience, I had a dog that had pretty decent house manners and seemed significantly calmer around other dogs. Of course, there was homework assigned every week so it took a lot of hard work outside of class to get to this point, but the homework wasn’t difficult. It just took discipline to make the time each day to practice. The instructions given by each of the trainers were clear and concise. Still having issues after a class? Well, the trainers were more than willing to help you troubleshoot those problems and had a long list of ideas for you to try depending on your specific issue. Plus, they’re all extremely kind, understanding, and have years of practical hands-on experience which is really important. My dog still needed a lot of work after ‘Basic Obedience’ though, so we signed up for ‘Intermediate Obedience.’ By the end of the six weeks I had a whole different dog. She was becoming extremely calm in public. So, we went ahead and completed ‘Advanced Obedience’ and ‘Urban Obedience’ to to keep the progress going. She now just about has the manners of a service dog. Nothing bothers her. She couldn’t care less about other dogs. She walks through malls and public spaces calmly and is one of the most polite dogs I’ve ever seen. I wish I could show you how many issues this dog had six months ago because the difference is shocking. If you want a well-behaved dog or if you just have a dog with a couple of issues you want to work through, this is the place to go. They also offer a ton of fun classes from time to time, such as ‘Tricks,’ ‘Nose Work,’ ‘Agility,’ and ‘Rally.’ If I wasn’t moving to Seattle in a couple of weeks I probably would have tried to do the rest of the classes too because we had so much fun here. Also, just as a side note, the obedience classes are filled with lots of fun little tricks and games if you’re interested in trick training. My dog and I completed the Novice, Intermediate, and Advanced AKC trick dog titles largely in part to the behaviors that were taught in the obedience classes. Which then caused us to get addicted to doing tricks. Which lead to my dog becoming the first Afghan hound to earn her AKC Elite Performer title (the final level of AKC trick titles). All Ways Dog Training deserves a lot of credit for all the things we’ve done together because of the confidence these classes gave my dog. I can’t recommend them enough.
