Amanda Gagnon Dog Training offers Group Classes, Workshops, Private Training Services and more throughout Manhattan 7-days a week. Our training programs are designed to help our clients experience the deep joy that results from a healthy relationship with their dog. We use well-researched techniques that are grounded in scientific evidence and applied in fun and effective ways. Most importantly, we strive to improve the lives of every dog and human who comes through our door.

How well do you work with middle-age dogs? Our six year old rescue is pretty traumatized and would benefit from one-on-one!
Dogs of ALL ages are welcome in [most] classes and dogs of ANY age can benefit from one-on-one private sessions, if that's what you're looking for. We've helped MANY rescues with varying degrees of trauma over the years! Please feel free to stop in and discuss your needs with our team or give a call and let us talk you through the services we have to offer.

We purchased a group training program and after completing it I would not recommend this school.
1. Trainer didn’t have much patience at all with our dog. If our puppy did not respond right away she would just switch off to other puppies. If a trainer only attends to dogs that are easily trained then I just don’t see any value in it.
2. There were days when trainer would almost completely ignore us being in the class. Asking her to come help would capture her attention for a second and then she would run off to dogs that are easy.
3. Better take a private class from Amanda(she subbed once and seem to be more interested in actually training dogs)
4. Overall group class can be done in one session as all of it was same repetitive information with minor adjustments. I personally don’t think that what was given over the whole course should take more then an hour.

The team at Amanda Gagnon Dog Training is remarkable. From Natalee, who answered every question about their Puppy Series and got us into class at the last minute... to SAM who is the most amazing trainer I've ever worked with– a master at his craft. His 'puppy whispering' abilities and sense of ease with us owners truly sets him apart. Absolutely LOVED working with him and learned so much! He's the best!

My puppy loves AGDT! The amazing trainers, and the admin staff are very welcoming and willing to go above and beyond to help dog owners. All of the training classes are designed to help dogs at various ages to achieve great results.

We completed puppy kindergarten with our 5-month-old. Sam is a great trainer and made the class very enjoyable. He helped us train the dog while training us to be better dog parents. Our puppy left every class in a great mood and he can now respond to some basic commands. We're very glad we took this class!

I have to say that their virtual consult call was very underwhelming. I believe this place might have excellent in-person training and the trainer we were assigned was very knowledgeable, but the actual initial consult felt rushed and non-specific to the point that both my partner and I felt uncomfortable moving forward with another meeting.
This is compounded by the fact that the virtual meeting can only be slotted for 30 minute time slots, whereas most trainers do initial consults from 60 to 90 minutes. We would have gladly paid more for more time, but the option wasn't available.
Ultimately, if you are considering this location for general training needs/in-person training, do not rely on this review, but if you are looking to engage initially online, I would recommend either finding another trainer or going in-person.
