This is the beginning of obedience work. Every dog should be proficient in these basic skills. It will make him/her a welcome companion anywhere, any time. Novice is taught in 8 private lessons. You get a written lesson plan and lessons are planned according to your calendar. Lessons are paid for at the end of each lesson, not in advance.
This is the second level of obedience. OPEN involves retrieving dumbbells on the flat, over jumps, down on recall, and heeling off-lead. This is very gratifying and fun work not only for your dog but you also! OPEN prepares your dog for our MOVIE DOG Class

This is a one-time counseling session designed for the family who is anticipating the arrival of a new puppy. We go over all the things that are normal and natural for a puppy to do but which can be expensive and annoying. We will show you how to set up a "management system" in your home so that all his/her needs are covered, from house breaking to the dreaded "separation anxiety". The puppy has a few basic needs and if we are aware of them and fulfill them then everyone lives happily ever after.

Search and rescue trainingProgram details
Dogs that have completed Novice and Open classes are eligible for Search and Rescue training. These dogs are trained to the point of qualifying for the national certification of "Mission Ready". This class lasts for an extended period of time, depending on the talent of the dog and handler.
Therapy dog trainingProgram details
This is one session only. It is for dogs that are competent in Novice and it is designed to prepare the dog to pass the test given by Therapy Dogs International.

I went to Animal Actors with my wild and out of control 16 week old toy poodle. They had been highly recommended by some of my dog owner friends. This started a delightful, rewarding and fun journey. We started with the snake training; then did the 3 basic obedience courses; then went on to Movie Dogs, a course to learn tricks and advanced moves. My little poodle Barkley went on to earn Obedience and Therapy Dog certifications and become a paid actor in videos and live shows. He of course now is very well behaved and has touched hundreds of people's hearts.
Ann and Aline are professional, kind and compassionate. They have together many decades of knowledge and experience. They are great teachers and take a sincere and personal interest in both the dogs and their owners. If I could give them a 6 out of 5 stars I would!

It's a delight to be with him anywhere and a joy to hear compliments about his behavior. Odie and I have completed the first lesson of the 8 lesson program and I am already seeing a huge difference in Odie's behavior. The lesson from Aline was thorough, logical and fun.
