Rattlesnake Avoidance Training We recently completed rattlesnake avoidance training for our three large mixed-breed dogs with Vanya from Animal Magnetism, who has an A+ rating from the Better Business Bureau of Southern Arizona. Each dog was trained individually using two non-venomous rattlesnakes (one with a rattle, one without). The dogs were on a leash and handled by my husband. They were never in danger as Vanya patiently guided the training. One dog was naturally cautious, another needed a mild correction, and our grand-dog required a few corrections before learning to avoid them. Took my girl to Vanya for snake and toad refresher trainer. She gave me the best tip on how to walk her on a leash without pulling. It is amazing. A life changer. I no longer have to worry about a fall with my girl. I spent 47 weeks in training her from the time she was a pup and in less than five minutes Vanya stopped the dog sled walks. This trainer was training a beautiful dog in Home Depot today. She was talking to some people while training the dog. The dog bumped her head by accident, and this trainer slammed the dog’s face down, he yelped in pain super loudly, pulled tight in the flat collar, got in the dog’s face angrily and yelled at him. The dog kept trying to pull his head up off the floor, and her foot on the leash kept his head and neck strained against the floor. The dog was obviously in pain and distressed. I have not worked with her myself, but clearly she does negative reinforcement training techniques. Negative reinforcement techniques are awful for the dog and they just make them scared of the handler and people in general. This dog was clearly scared and in pain. And he didn’t even do anything “bad”. (No such thing as a bad dog, just a bad person behind the leash). I see that she does rattle snake and toad aversive training. Again, shocks and negative punishment training is never good for a dog. I’d be wary and not use this lady if you care about your dog’s health and well being.

Just had Vanya with Animal Magnetism to our house to do rattlesnake and toad avoidance training for our two dogs. She was so friendly and knowledgeable and passionate about what she does. The training was very quick and effective! I feel so much more comfortable knowing my dogs have been trained. I highly recommend her to anyone! Get your pets trained because rattlesnakes and toads can be fatal to pets and antivenom is like $1000 per vial (and most bites require more than one). Save money and your pet’s life with training!
