Armor K9

My wife and I purchased a Belgian Malinois puppy and brought her home at 8 weeks. As a former police K9 handler, and having many years experience handling this breed, I figured piece of cake I got this. Well, the dogs I handled were adult dogs and I had no experience with a Mal pup....and was I in for a surprise. My new pup thought she was in charge from the word go and there was no changing her mind no matter what I pulled out from my bag of tricks. I knew within the first week of having her home I could not do this on my own and needed an experienced trainer that knew the Mal breed. I searched the internet and also received a referral from the breeder to contact RD at Armor K9. Upon contacting Armor K9 for the first time, I spoke with the owner Lee. Lee was very pleasant, took his time in explaining the breed and various training packages and also prided himself in specializing in the Belgian Malinois breed. I could tell during the first conversation that I was in good hands and this was a company that I wanted to train my new pup. My wife and I decided to take advantage of the Board and Train package. This package consists of the dog living with the trainer for a 2-3 week period. This is how we met RD Miller. And let me tell you folks RD is the real deal and having 3 Belgian Malinois himself, is very experienced with the breed and knows all their quirks. Again, if you decide to purchase a Malinois, you should first do your research to determine if this breed is for you and then set yourself up with an experienced trainer that knows the breed. I keep saying that because not just any trainer can train a Mal. Don’t get me wrong Mal’s are very loyal, trustworthy and make great family dogs but they must be trained properly and must have plenty of work or you could definitely see a different side of this breed that you wish you hadn’t...not much of an “off” switch. RD kept our Mal for 3 weeks, and of course we were allowed and encouraged to meet with RD and his family at his place to monitor our pup’s progress. Upon completion of the 3 week Board and Train package, RD delivered our pup and all I can say is WOW...what a difference compared to the first few weeks trying to go it alone without a trainer. My wife and I are very pleased with our girls progress and RD has the talent to get the job done. Thank you RD and Lee, my wife and I can’t thank you enough.
