My husband and I rescued an energetic/ uneasy dog 6 months ago and really started to panic when we realized she didn't know her name or how to walk on a leash. She had run away a handful of times and was difficult to get back. She seemed anxious and was barking out of the windows in the house. She needed help being her best self and we didn't know how to do that. We did our research and went for consults at several places that said they could help, but the ladies at AtlanticK9 really seemed to connect with our girl. She went for the two week boot camp at the end of May. We got pictures, text and call updates while she was there. To be honest, it seemed like she was having more fun there than she does at home. If it weren't for how excited she was when we picked her up, I would have said she didn't miss us at all. There was an immediate and noticeable difference in her behavior. She seemed calm and engaged. She IS calm and engaged. We have had her back home with us since the first week of June and she is like a new and improved version of herself. She is still silly and hectic, but will look us in the eyes when we say her name. If we ask her to come, she turns and comes so fast we have to brace for impact. If she barks, she stops when we ask. She walks in a heel! Of course all of this requires maintenance and ultimately you, the owner, to keep up with it all. If you have a dog that seems like it needs help and it is stressing you out - it doesn't have to be like that! There are options, this place is the one I went with and I am SO happy I did.
