Billy at Avery Creek Retrievers is without question one of the very best retriever trainers in the Carolinas. He has a great team and trains various breeds that compete at the highest level, taking multiple dogs to the International Grand and the Master Nationals annually. In addition to competition dogs, Billy also produces very nice and obedient hunting companions. He has worked with two of my labs, and the results exceeded my expectations. One key when working with any professional is that you must invest the time to understand the commands and how and when to use them. Not only does the dog have to be trained, but also the owner. There's a methodology and cadence to handling a well trained gun dog and, if not applied consistently, or if the wrong commands are used, the dog will be confused and the results will not be as you'd hoped. Lastly, the compassion Billy has for his client dogs is evident to anyone who's used him, and the fact that every single dog is examined by a mobile Veterinarian on site every single month is a testimony to how much he cares.

I can’t say enough good things about Avery Creek Retrievers and Billy Mosley. He did an outstanding job force fetching my dog, Gus. The transformation in Gus’s consistency, focus, and confidence has been incredible. Billy clearly knows what he’s doing and takes the time to work each dog the right way. Communication throughout the process was solid, and it’s obvious he genuinely cares about both the dogs and their owners. I took my 8 month old dog to Avery Creek Retrievers for basic retriever training, and I’ve been really satisfied with the results. Billy and McKenna did a great job working with her. You can tell he knows what he’s doing and cares about all the dogs he trains. Communication was good throughout the process, and the training made a noticeable difference in her obedience and behavior.
