Balanced Behavior was an amazing find at a very dark time with our dog Caspian. I had just been bit on the face a second time, this time needing 17 stitches. Mind you, I am his “person”. The one he bonds to the most. We were at a loss, and contemplating putting him down, because that is what everyone was telling us to do. We found Bill through a referral, and he helped us understand that what we were dealing with was a behavior issue, not aggression. Through the program we started to see that Caspian needed a reboot, and to understand he needed more leaders in the house. He is a very anxious dog, and triggered buy certain things (such as our cat), so we started to teach him how to disengage with those things by positive reinforcement through engaging with us. Bill was extremely patient with us and our dog, as well making sure we understood what we were being taught before moving on. We know we have a long road ahead of us, but are extremely grateful that the universe brought Bill and Balanced Behavior into our lives. I would highly recommend his training program for anyone who needs anything from beginning training to behavior modification and more!

I don’t even know where to start. I brought in my dog Nutmeg for the initial consultation because I didn’t know how to train a reactive dog. After talking with Bill I knew I could trust him to train not only my dog, but myself too. And he did just that. Bill gave both Nutmeg and I more confidence in communicating and our overall relationship. He took the time to answer any and all questions class to class and even in between when needed. Bill helped us find useful and effective training tools. I loved the way he not only taught me but also provided me with great resources and videos in order to review at home anything we had worked on in camp. I really do appreciate his calm demeanor and his teaching techniques! I highly recommend Bill and Krista if you are looking for great dog training. Nutmeg’s obedience wouldn’t be where it is today without them! There will always work to do but I know they are there when I need them.

New review as of 4.16.2025: I brought my dog Fred to Bill’s GOAT program after seeing great results with my other dog, Saoirse. Fred is sweet but reactive—easily overstimulated, always wants to be the center of attention, and wasn’t the best at listening when it counted. Bill helped us make real progress. He met Fred exactly where he was and built a plan that worked with (not against) Fred’s personality. What I appreciated most was Bill’s calm, consistent approach and how well he read both the dog and the human. Fred is still Fred—big personality and all—but he’s more focused, more responsive, and more manageable in situations that used to be total chaos. I’ve worked with trainers before, but the results with Bill were different: practical, personalized, and sustainable. Highly recommend Balanced Behavior Dog Training. Bill knows what he’s doing, and it shows. _______________________ I recently worked with Bill for 1:1 dog training, and I couldn't be happier with the results. Bill's patience and dedication to reinforcing concepts were truly remarkable. He went to great lengths to ensure that both Saoirse and I were comfortable and understood each step of the process. Saoirse started off as an extremely nervous dog with reactivity and separation anxiety. While Bill doesn't have a magic wand to change a dog overnight, his training taught me how to become a better dog owner and leader for Saoirse. Our communication and trust have significantly improved, boosting her self-confidence and strengthening our relationship. I highly recommend Bill to anyone looking to foster a better relationship with their dog. Thank you, Bill, for your incredible support and expertise!

Bill & Krista were wonderful at training our dog and US! We started with a reactive young dog who couldn’t see other people/dogs on a walk without reacting. We had used other trainers prior that weren’t able to fix the issue. Since starting at Balanced Behavior, we can enjoy walks where his focus remains on us. We have a confident boy all thanks to the help from them!

LIFE CHANGING for both us and our dog. Our boxer would not only bark at everything that moved (yes, even a leaf that would blow by) but also pull me towards that leaf too! He has gone to board and train classes and it has failed him miserably. Thankfully we found Bill and his amazing team! They are so patient and really care about your little fluffy. They take their time to teach both your dog and YOU!! Our pup has made so much progress, it’s like I have a different dog now. Our bond is so much stronger, we understand each other so much better and he looks at me for guidance. I have never thought I would be able to walk down the street without gripping the leash as hard as I could but now he’s a loose leash walker!! Can’t wait to take more classes and continue our learning even more!! Thank you Bill!!!!
