We adopted Sophie, our German Sheperd, about a year ago. She was dog-reactive at any distance -- barking, growling, and lunging even at the distance of a football field. After trying two other trainers, we found Morgan and her dog, Jack. We went from sneaking walks in parking lots at midnight to sitting with Sophie at restaurants, going to Saturday markets, and just letting Sophie enjoy the world with us. Morgan is not only fantastic with dogs, she is fantastic with people, too. She taught us to see uncomfortable situations as opportunities for growth and training. She's able to analyze a dog’s role based on how they interact in their environment, or how they respond to other dogs, people, and other stimuli. Her empathic awareness goes even further into determining what adjustments in a setting or routine would work best to receive optimal changes in them. On top of all of this, part of cultivating such changes is by having an approach that considers their own personal boundaries too. This is what makes the changes with Morgan’s sensible mentorship seem like magic! — Working with the owner is just as important as working with the dog. By having a strong communicative channel with the owner, the behaviors of a dog can be consistently addressed by the owner's participation in their training. Morgan shows a thorough understanding in the importance of the owners’ involvement with their pet’s learning. She provides a fresh perspective on how certain behaviors are displayed, why they develop, and how to best address them with guidance on training practices and tools. — Strong support in training sessions. Ensuring that an owner is confident with the training and with their dog, is another importance in her mentorship. It is as much a learning journey for the owner as it is for the dog, and having a confident owner translates to the foundation of confidence in their pet. A part of this work is by cultivating these sessions to review progress, bring encouragement, answer questions, and provide feedback that engages with the learning and emotional support of the owner. — Flexible with the needs of the owner and dog. This way, the training environment is better controlled for the learning of a dog, alongside potentially needed adaptations of other pets involved. It also ensures that the training stays consistent with human companions who are continuously engaging with them. — Training is about building a strong relationship on clear guidance and communication. Consistently showing a dog what’s expected of them helps to habitually choose behavior, even when a stimulus comes up. Morgan is the absolute, best trainer. Her insight into your dog’s behavior goes beyond that of most trainers. She has helped us reach and exceed our training goals for our dog. With Morgan’s assistance, we have taken an unruly, out of control, frightened, reactive dog and turned her completely around. She’s transformed from the girl no one could love (except me) into everyone’s favorite dog. She is now in training as a service dog. We could not have done this without Morgan!
