My German Shepherd mix, Cooper, is about 3 years old and had a lot of bad defensive habits. He would snap and lash out at people who got too close to me, especially if I wasn't looking in their direction. Sporting events were nerve racking because whenever we'd celebrate a big play he'd get scared and snap at my guests. These issues, plus smaller issues with jumping up on me too much, pushing past me to get to the door, and being very difficult to walk (pulling, going different directions), led me to seek professional help with dog training. He showed us how to remove bad walking habits and now Cooper will run with me right at my heel. Is he still young and learning? Absolutely. Anything great will take time to achieve, but he gave me tools to get some immediate impact and had most of the issues resolved within 2-3 weeks. The best part is that it is not specific to just one dog, you can use these techniques with any dog and I've had success using them on some family dogs as well. I was super hesitant to contact Bark Busters since I’ve been through a dog training program prior that seemed to help a bit but my pit bull was still occasionally being aggressive.
