Let me be the first to say, I HAVE A REACTIVE DOG And if you’re reading reviews trying to figure out if Kate can handle your dog, you’ve come to the right place. After being attacked by an off leash dog, my once playful, friendly pup became afraid of everyone and everything. It was extremely stressful and I felt hurt, embarrassed and lost. I felt especially judged by other pet professionals, and my dog and I felt misunderstood. I just felt like no one could handle what we were going through. We moved to NYC, and after a particularly tough vet visit, our vet suggested Bark and Disco. I almost didn’t attend the 15 minute meeting, because I wasn’t sure how to convince someone Ries was a good dog, and worth working with. Turns out, I didn’t have to. Kate was not at all intimidated by what I was telling her, and we got right to work coming up with a plan. One of the great things she offered was a helper dog session, and after a couple, Ries initiated a play bow with another dog for the first time in over 4 years since being bit. Her work has made our lives so much better, not only mine but dog’s as well. We are so thankful to have found her, and are looking forward to many sessions to come!

Kate has been wonderful to work with. We came to her while helping our dog Louie feel more comfortable and confident with city life, and she has brought such a thoughtful, calm, and practical approach to the process. She is patient, knowledgeable, and very attuned to both the dog and the humans, which makes the training feel supportive rather than overwhelming. Louie has already made real progress, and we feel much more equipped to understand his stress signals and help him through challenging situations. Kate is clearly experienced, kind, and deeply committed to the dogs she works with. We’re very grateful to have found Bark & Disco and would absolutely recommend Kate to anyone looking for a compassionate, professional trainer.

We can’t say enough good things about Kate. She was incredibly kind, patient, and understanding while working with our very anxious Maltese, Morley. From the very beginning, she took the time to build trust with him and never rushed the process, which made all the difference. Thanks to Kate’s thoughtful approach and guidance, Morley made huge progress—he’s now able to sleep on his own and confidently go on walks with other individuals, which felt like a massive win for our family. Watching his confidence grow has been such a relief and joy. We’re so grateful for Kate’s expertise and compassion, and we highly recommend her to anyone with a nervous or anxious dog.
