FirstBarkBayou Gun Dog (John and Becca) was awesome to work with as well as Rebekah of Red Dog Farms (who assisted with the whelping of the pups). The collective team truly cares about their dogs and their customers. Always responsive and professional. Our puppy is now 12 weeks old and is the smartest and prettiest little puppy we’ve been around. Enjoying training her to be a great family and sporting dog.

We couldn’t be happier with our experience and our new field-bred Golden Retriever puppy. From the very beginning, communication was outstanding. We especially appreciated all the regular updates on the litter; it made the entire process feel personal and exciting as we watched the puppies grow. Our puppy is truly a perfect fit for our family. She is bold and confident, with incredible drive and enthusiasm, yet equally friendly and eager to connect with everyone she meets. Her intelligence is already shining through in how quickly she learns and adapts, and on top of it all, she is absolutely beautiful. It’s clear that a great deal of care, knowledge, and dedication goes into raising these dogs. We are so grateful and would highly recommend Bayou Gundog to anyone looking for a well-bred, high-quality field-bred Golden Retriever.

If you’re looking for a high-quality field golden retriever, Bayou Gundog is the place to go. John and his family were outstanding throughout the entire process. They took the time to understand our lifestyle, expectations, and what we wanted in a dog, then matched us with the perfect fit for our active family. Our pup, Dutch (Jeno × Delta), has been exceptional—great temperament, strong drive, and exactly what we were hoping for. We love our puppy, Mac, from Bayou Gundog. When it came time to look for a new hunting partner I reached out to a group on Facebook and had multiple people tell me to look into Bayou Gundog. I looked at a few other breeders, but Bayou was the easiest to communicate with and made me feel confident in my decision. Mac is the smartest dog I have ever seen and it's amazing how quickly he picks up new things. We drove 7 hours from Nashville to pick him up and would gladly do it again for how amazing our experience has been.
Had an excellent experience with getting my puppy from Bayou Gun Dogs. They kept me up to date on the litter and communicated with me about what specifically I was looking for. The McCarters are amazing and I can’t wait to see what my pups future holds. I will hopefully be sending West to training with John in the future.
