Behavior Plus Dog Training

At first my dog, Bayla, had severe anxiety after I rescued her and was unable to get her to stop hiding under the couch or panicking on walks or with interactions with other people. She had been traumatized while living as a wild dog in Mexico and only her and her mother survived, as the other siblings passed away from exposure in the desert. I rescued her from a kill shelter through a rescue organization. She was scared of everyone and everything, and only would come to greet my cat Miss Daisy and I. She refused to go to the bathroom outside, or greet anyone, and was so anxious she would sprint to the point of digging her paws into the ground to get home as soon as she could on any walk or attempt to walk. She even refused to accept treats or food from anyone except me. I was in a state of helplessness and called several dog training groups, each of which said they were not able to handle my dog's severe anxiety -- she was afraid of chipmunks, people, dogs, loud noises, cars, and even bugs hitting the window. My dog refused to go to the bathroom outside or even come out from under my couch. I called Behavior Plus and Jack Atmeh was able to help Bayla finally get confidence, and showcase her wonderful personality. Bayla has mastered sit, stay, come, leave it, fetch, bed time, stop, and lay down. She especially loves greeting people and their dogs which I had never thought I would get to see -- even going up to greet them on her own! In the beginning it was great to see all the little progress she had made each week. Now, it is like I have a different dog who is not afraid to be friendly and I am able to walk her and enjoy the walk without being pulled by Bayla. I cannot thank Jack enough for all the help he has given us! My puppy has gone from a scared and anxiety ridden puppy to a friendly outgoing puppy who is able to listen to commands and enjoy being outside and around dogs and people! There is no more pulling into the busy road on walks, no more hiding under the couch, no more whining and hiding anytime someone comes by or she sees a dog, and no more of her panic episodes from seeing a chipmunk or hearing a loud motorcycle or plane overhead. I am so relieved and grateful to have had the chance to train Bayla with Behavior Plus!
