Beneath the Willow

Beneath the Willow dog training has been a wonderful experience for my dog and for me as a pet owner. Spencer, the owner/trainer, has 4(+) years experience working with dogs and he is fabulous. He understands the dog psyche and processing. There is also a special connection between Spencer and dogs that I can't quite put my finger on, but it is pretty amazing to watch. My 3 year old, 130 lb. dog did not respond to commands, has focus issues, and many fear driven, defensive behavior patterns due to prior abuse. He was not good on a leash and walks were stressful even after completing programs with other trainers. I took my dog to an animal behaviorist who suggested I might have to put the dog down due to his behaviors and they heavily medicated the dog. After weaning the dog off the prescribed meds, I started working with Spencer a few weeks ago. Spencer comes to us and works in my dog's environment - which is critical. Walks are no longer stressful - there is no pulling. The dog listens to commands, understands his place in our home, and knows to look to his pet parent for direction when unsure or stressed. While we have some more work to do, we are all happier for the changes we have experienced so far. Totally worth the investment for your dog, and for you as the pet parent.
