Berkeley K-9 School For Dogs

Great Results. We rescued a 7 month old puppy in June. She was so fearful and skittish that I could barely touch her. I couldn't figure out how to get her to feel more comfortable with us or how to teach her any commands. Then we moved, and I found this school. After only a couple of months, our puppy is much more relaxed. She has learned all of her basic commands, and now we are moving on to intermediate and advanced commands. Thanks to her training, she has learned to go up the ramp into the dog bath and stand relatively quietly for her bath. She loves to jump in the functional agility course at the school. She also loves to jump over my other dogs. I can now pet her and groom her with ease. She is so well-behaved. As it turned out, it wasn't all that hard to train the puppy. It was a lot harder to train me! I have benefitted greatly from Marvin's instruction. I am so happy that I found this school and put into practice everything I learned. Practicing at home is so important. My entire dog family, 3 other dogs, has benefitted from the training we are receiving at the school. We also get to take advantage of group classes so that the puppy can get comfortable around other dogs and some humans. This is a great school if you are serious about training yourself and your dog.

Marvin is an old school trainer able to reach dogs other trainers or vets will abandon. I watched him work with a couple before me whose vet advised them to put down their dog. Marvin had their dog calm in moments and I was able to bring my Shepherd inside with their dog without incident. He does talk a lot, but most of his stories relate back to training your specific dog—so pay attention! He is helping me train my working dog and his methods have shown amazing results. Dog training is mostly owner training and once I realized that, things went amazingly well for me and my Shepherd. I highly recommend him and his school!

Marvin has helped bring peace to our home. We had a shih tzu mix (Lilith) that had attacked our yorkie (Darcy) several times. (Imagine below shows some of the injuries my Yorkie received). Marvin helped us understand the dynamics that were happening between our dogs and how to stop it from happening. It has been a year since Lilith last attacked Darcy. It's still a work in progress, but we have made great strides. Lilith seems so much happier now and is working on long-distance discipline. Marvin makes their time spent training fun. Lilith is always excited to go to training. We also have an elderly Pomeranian (Toby) he has no teeth (he's 14), and his tongue would hang out of his mouth, and he had trouble eating. Marvin suggested that we use a spray bottle to keep it his tongue wet, and it has helped him so much. Marvin may, at times, seem unconventional, but if you listen to him and give his advice a chance, we have found his suggestions to be spot on.
