Best Friends Obedience & Agility School

As a 4-6 month old puppy, my girl loved attending the daycare. After five months of surgery I re-enrolled her and things went very wrong. Initially the caretakers wouldn't let her play for liability reasons, which I understood. In two weeks Anya was released by her surgeon and they still confined her to an exercise pen and when she started barking from frustration, they squirted her in the face, put a bark collar on her and sometimes threw a blanket over her very small enclosure. She was effectively in solitary confinement. Some days when I picked her up she smelled like cleaning products. The first red flag that something was wrong was when she threw up her after play treats in my car twice. The second , much more serious problem was that she started barking at small light haired women. When I approached the owner with this alarming behavior she informed me that not only was my dog very out of control (which she wasn't at home) but she would be better served by private obedience sessions, that she was not happy in daycare. I'm unclear why they did not inform me of this earlier instead of continuing to charge me for what essentially was torturing my girl. In the weeks since pulling her out I have found another loving, wonderful daycare provider and it is clear that Anya's aggression towards small women was caused by Best Friends. The behavior no longer exists. After just several weeks, not only does Anya not discriminate, she is funny and almost over-affectionate with all children, adults and other pets, much to my extreme relief. I agree with a previous reviewer that they over emphasize the effectiveness of the halti collar. It completely freaked Ani out. I do want to say that 18 years ago Dana, the owner helped me train another Newfoundland who ultimately was the perfect dog for 15 years, so I'm not sure why everything went so badly with my Anya.
