Beth Hurley Dog Training

Beth helped us solve a very specific behavioral problem with our dog, Waffles that I was struggling with. The best thing about Beth's training is that it's not one-size-fits-all like you'd experience at most group classes. It can be very specialized and tailored to your specific needs. Her professionalism also really shines through - she always comes on time for sessions, and has the best handouts. I feel like she's good at training both dogs and people! :) 5 stars! We thoroughly enjoyed working with her and she gave us such good techniques that we continue to use with our dog today.

Working with Beth was a pure joy. We had a rescue dog that had uncontrollable barking and accidents in the house - even though it seemed evident that he had been potty trained. We tried our own methods, but were not successful. Beth taught us positive reinforcement methods that encouraged good behaviors. She taught us methods to encourage sit, stay, wait, and ways to help calm our dog when he is on the leash and around other dogs. They were much more effective than any of our scoulding or methods to punish bad behaviors. I also found Beth to be prepared. Each session she showed up with one pagers to walk through what we were going to learn and for us to keep and use between sessions. She also helped us understand some basics on how and why dogs respond to certain commands and human behaviors. The results of the training have been lasting. Owners must be completely engaged and work with the dog between sessions. Beth gives you the tools that last after the sessions are complete, if you spend the time and effort with the dog. On top of great results Beth was pleasant and accomodating with schedules. I highly recommend Beth Hurley.

Beth has been a terrific resource for us as we brought a puppy into the family - it had been 14 years since we trained a dog, and we welcomed her expertise. I found Beth positive, practical and effective. In addition to working with us each session to introduce additional commands, Beth provided written instructions of that information for us to refer to as we worked on those commands with our dog. Having it written down allowed us to be consistent in our approach. Beth is also very responsive as we set up our meeting schedule, and asked 'mid-session' questions. I loved that she provided an opinion and resources to research as we dealt with specific issues such as leash pulling, etc. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Beth Hurley to you.

We used Beth Hurley for our trainer for our first dog ever, a standard poodle puppy. She has a puppy package and came over to meet with us before the dog even came home. She answered all our questions and helped us prepare to bring him home. We then had several sessions with her where we learned how to give our dog commands with positive praise and reinforcement. Douglas learned them quickly and was extremely responsive to Beth's care and teaching style. You can tell how much she loves animals and also see her professional knowledge and background. She gave us a folder with homework each week with simple, easy to follow ideas that really worked. Douglas is now a year and a half and just the other day someone commented on how well behaved he was at a soccer game. He is an awesome dog and easy to have around thanks to Beth. We would highly recommend her services and expertise!
