Better Dog Behavior Now

Our dog struggled with loose lease walking and leash reactivity while around other dogs. We had worked with a different trainer in the past, who was good and we progressed, but we weren't successful in keeping the progress going once the sessions were over. We contacted Doug based on his "no corrections" style of training. While everybody is different, we didn't want to use any type of tool (pronged collar or ecollar) with our dog and specifically looked for trainers who worked without them. Within three sessions with Doug (and a lot of practice in-between), we can now walk our dog throughout our neighborhood without any pulling. If, and when, he gets ahead of us, he actually catches himself and slows himself down to match our pace (with no corrections needed!). While we started out giving him treats every two to three steps, we can now get through a 30 minute walk with giving him a max of five treats (which we do more bc we're so happy with his progress, not bc we have to). We're also able to walk by other dogs with minimal to no reaction. Before training with Doug, I was beginning to think we'd never get to where we are today but Doug's training works AND it sticks. You have to be willing to put in the work but you'll be so glad you did!

My dog has had a lot of emotional trauma. Her human pack was reduced from 3 to just me. Then she was attacked by another dog and almost didn't survive. She is a Great Dane and is a solid 100#s of muscle. As a result of the attack, she became dog reactive. I have had other trainers who have had provided tid-bits of tips. But Doug was consistent and had solid actionable exercises that I could do alongside him and my dog, then use as homework to continue her emotional healing. We would reinforce them with frequent training sessions. He worked with myself and my neighbor who has dogs so she didn't see them as a threat. The consistency and gradual introduction of new training tips and games has allowed her to be a more confident and calm dog. Doug's love of dogs and his kindness is evident. I would recommend him for dog training. He is a great dog trainer with many innovative solutions.

I am giving this company 5 stars for their dog training skills. They helped us with our rescue dog that had dog aggression issues. This would be a problem because we also babysit my son's dog frequently. We knew she had these issues before we got her so we reached out to Doug for advice. His advice made the initial meeting go much more smoothly than I had thought. Distance was our friend he said. And that helped. And after that, he explained we could use positive reinforcement and behavior modifications to help with this issue. No corrections were needed. I was hesitant with this approach due to what I assumed dog training would be like for an aggressive dog. He gave us a plan, and we worked with her everyday. And it worked! They now roam around the house freely and even sleep on the same couch from time to time.
