FirstBarkAndrew is the best! We got a Portugese Water Dog puppy without knowing much about the breed. Great loyal, smart dogs but very willful. Andrew helped get things under control. I’m so glad we chose Black Belt Canine Academy!

What is the best age for a dog to start training?
Dogs can learn at any age and we are happy to work with all of them. Typically our puppy training focuses on animals age 7 months - 2 years.

Have you ever met a dog that couldn't be trained?
After 20 years in the industry, there are only 3 dogs we remember as being particularly challenging, but we have never met a dog we couldn't help, nor an owner we couldn't give a better quality of life. Are there any issues or behaviors you won't tackle?
No, we are honored to work with the toughest pets and on the most difficult issues. Typically there are three issues that most trainers will not, or cannot train- and we are happy to help you with any and all of them: 1) Aggression 2) Separation Anxiety 3) Involuntary Peeing If your pet has any of these issues, then look no further, you've come to the right place!

How long are training sessions?
Our intake session lasts 2-3 hours and our training sessions typically last 1 hour, but everything can be customized to fit the needs of you and your pet.

How do you know you can train MY dog?
The bulk of our customers aren't calling us for easy-peasy pets that are low maintenance. Most of our customers have tried the basics, watched the videos and read the books, but had no luck. We are thrilled to tell you that yes, we can train your pet. Our methods are effective and our results last. Our lessons are customized for every situation so they consistently provide great results for even the most challenging pet scenarios.

How long will training take?
Results will usually be seen on the first day and will continue to improve for weeks/months depending on the issue. Our methods have been refined over decades to deliver results that last long after we've parted ways.

We are beyond excited and satisfied with his work and the follow-up of his support staff. Was very happy with the home visit Andrew provided. We learned a lot in a short time and decided to continue obedience training for our Cane Corso. Andrew is definitely a dog whisperer and has a lot of experience training animals. Very happy so far and look forward to continuing the partnership. Update for my review. STILL 5 STARS. Andrew is an excellent trainer and the dogs seem to know he is the teacher. Went through 10 lessons and my Cane Corso has grown into a more disciplined puppy. At 10 weeks she is way ahead of other dogs. We are adding to the tool kit these next couple of weeks but she knows commands, including non verbal, and knows how to respond. Black Belt Canine Academy is well worth the investment times 1000. Thank you Andrew and Mallory.
