Blackhawk K-9

When I adopted Sedona, I knew she was going to be a project. She came to me as a young adult with no leadership or training, and a host of behavioral issues, including reactivity with humans and other dogs. A friend had a dog that previously had similar problems, but this dog now was happy, obedient, and not at all reactive. My friend referred me to Blackhawk K-9. I’ve been working with Sam for several months now. She and her team have taught me how to achieve the desired behaviors from Sedona by noticing and understanding her body language, building her confidence, and ultimately creating a trusting bond. Because of her patience, coaching, experience, and expertise, I’m working towards having a strong relationship with my dog that we will both benefit from for years to come.

Where do I even start? I could not be more grateful that we met Sam when we did. After unsuccessfully having our labs trained with someone else I was super hesitant to spend money working with another trainer. I am huge on communication and Sam answered all of my questions and gave me every detail I needed from the very start. I am also a super anxious person and she put me at ease every step of the way with sending Goose to her for 5 weeks. Goose went to her a 5 month old puppy, full of energy and not knowing any commands or obedience and came home knowing how to sit, place, heel, come and just an overall sense of what he should and shouldn’t be doing. My favorite part is that she didn’t turn him into a robot dog. He still has his same fun loving personality but knows when it’s time to play and when it’s time to listen. This was super important to me because I would like to do some therapy dog work with Goose. I truly cannot recommend Sam and her team enoug. She trained Goose with ease and continues to work on training me to be the best dog mom I can be. She is patient and kind and makes training fun and approachable for both the dog and their owner.

Forever grateful for Sam and her team at Blackhawk K9! Before training our German Shepherd would not walk on a leash preventing us from taking him anywhere besides our backyard. Now, thanks to Blackhawk we have a true adventure buddy!! Since training we have included him in many of our family outings, including a beach trip where he behaved in multiple restaurants and shops filled with distractions (including other animals!) Highly recommend!!
