Blackwood Canine

I adopted my super sweet golden mountain doodle at 8 weeks old. I knew it would be a lot of work, but I also forgot just how much work. After completing puppy training, she went to the board and train program with David and Karin. When I picked her up, she was happy and calmer; she LOVES having a job and our relationship has gotten even closer as we practice her training at home. David and Karin (and the two cutest kids) are wonderful trainers who truly know what they are doing and how to bring the best out of the dogs they work with. I’m so glad I invested in my dog and my relationship with her by trusting David and Karin at Blackwood Canine.

We brought our dog Taj to Blackwood after years of trying everything to stop his aggression towards other dogs + his anxiety. As soon as we met with David we knew that he understood what we needed and how to help our dog. The board and train program was amazing and David has been so patient helping us get used to working with our dog in a new way. Overall Blackwood is run by super great people who care, and know how to make life better for both of you.

David and Karin are wonderful! The training guidance we received was clear and straightforward. David explained everything we needed to practice very well and I appreciated that he wasn’t afraid to correct us when he noticed we did something a little off. Karin was so and understanding when our dog became sick and we had to reschedule. They really helped me become a more confident dog owner and person. Our dog responded very well to the training and is now looking at a future where he can continue to enjoy all his favorite places… safely! We are happy to now have a trainer we trust for any future advice and training advances.

David and Karin are the best at what they do because of how they operate. I have been lucky enough to be apart of multiple private group trainings. They do a wonderful job on educating the dog owner on how to be the best for their dog. They are honest and will tell you the truth about what’s going on in your situation. Follow their direction and teaching and you will have a wonderful relationship with your pup!

Our adorable 100lb dog had a lot of problems. He had taken control of the house and our walks. He was our first dog, and we were his first home, so we weren't properly communicating. With the low priced (compared to other trainers) one-on-one training we got him in tip top shape over the 2 months regimen. He walks in a heel, he has stopped biting at the leash (although I am still working on him with that) and he went from no obedience training to all of the basics, sit, stay, come, etc. I really appreciate how Karen and David did it while respecting my dog. Many trainers we researched wanted him on a shock collar without meeting him because of his size, but here they made him excited for training each week and made the main message positive reinforcement, with some stern corrections when necessary. When it was necessary, they taught us how to properly use corrective tools. Great overall training program that I would recommend to anyone, but especially new dog owners. Thanks.
