Bleu Starr K9

My dog died while in the care of Bleu Star K9. The exact cause and circumstances surrounding his death are currently under investigation, and reports have been filed with the appropriate authorities. Based on my personal experience, I do not recommend this facility. Bleu Star k9 is an unlicensed facility. The 1977 North Carolina General Assembly enacted an "Animal Welfare Act" to ensure that animals, as items of commerce, are provided humane care and treatment by regulating the transportation, sale, purchase, housing, care, handling and treatment of animals by persons or organizations engaged in transporting, buying or selling them. This Act is intended to protect animals confined in pet shops, kennels, public and private animal shelters, and auction markets. For the purposes of this Act, "animal," as defined by General Statute 19A-23, includes only domestic dogs and cats. State issued certificates or licenses are required for animal shelters, pet shops, boarding kennels and dealers. Civil penalties are possible for the operation of a pet shop, kennel, animal shelter, etc., without a license. The requirement for a boarding kennel license from the Animal Welfare Section also applies to in-home boarding services for dogs and/or cats. This includes providing boarding services advertised through online pet-service companies and other online lists. Operating a boarding facility without a valid license could result in up to a $5,000 civil penalty for each violation. § 92.06 ANIMAL CRUELTY. (A) Prohibited acts. It shall be considered animal cruelty, unlawful and a violation of this chapter if a person will fully and negligently does any of the following: (1) Fails to provide adequate food and/or water for any animal he owns, possesses, or harbors; or (2) Overworks or overdrives any animal causing physical pain, suffering or death; or (3) Beats, tortures, injures, torments, poisons or mutilates any animal causing physical pain, suffering or death; or (4) Fails to provide adequate medical attention for any sick, diseased or injured animal he or she owns, possesses, or harbors;

We were taking a 1 week vacation when 4 days into the vacation our oldest dog Scout came down with a serious cough and needed urgent care. The owners did not hesitate in contacting us and took Scout to the nearest urgent care for treatment. The care and effort Sara and Graham provided for our Scout were above and beyond anything we could have hoped for. They made sure he was cared for by the urgent care facility, went back to get him after treatments that were done and then had him in their home for nearly 48 hours while we were flying back home to get him. They made him comfortable and cared for him like this was their own pet. We knew Scout was getting great care. They even stayed open later for us to get him and bring him home when we returned. They had our other 2 dogs there as well and we had them stay at the kennel so we could focus our attention on getting Scout some recuperative time at home. We feel so blessed to have found Bleu Starr K9 as our go-to kennel when we 1st came to Hampstead. If you want someone to care for your Fur Babies as you would , these are the folks that can provide the best care in the Cape Fear area.

I can’t say enough wonderful things about our experience with Bleu Starr board and train program! From the moment we dropped off our 1 year old GSD, we knew she was in the best hands. Amanda & Sarah were so kind, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about what they do. Our dog came home happier and more confident. The transformation has been amazing! It’s clear she was not only trained with expertise, but also with so much love and care. We also appreciated the updates throughout her stay — photos and texts that made us feel connected even when we missed her. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts! This was the best decision we could have made for our dog. 🐾❤️
