BTS K9 Dog Training and Boarding

We recently did the board and train with our 6.5 month old mini bernedoodle Riley. Although it was hard leaving my dog there for two weeks the daily communication and updates made it much easier. Riley learned SO much in just two weeks. She learned sit, down, place, how to properly walk on a leash, and more. She returned to us with much better manners and improved obedience. We plan to continue with this company throughout her puppy years to make her adult years happy, healthy, and successful. We can’t recommend this place enough!!!

I normally do not leave reviews like this, but I honestly feel like people should know about our experience. We decided to leave our 11-month-old puppy at this facility for their 7-day basic training program after doing a tour with Mike. He was very nice, explained everything well, and made us feel comfortable leaving our dog there. They pushed pretty hard for the longer 3-4 week programs, but we decided to do the 7 days. While my dog was there, we only received a few pictures and every time I checked in, I was told she was “doing great.” Not once did anyone call us to tell us she was sick, stressed, having diarrhea, or not doing well. The only call we got was about 30 minutes before pickup, and it was mainly to tell us that my dog was “stubborn” and that we should consider paying for a longer stay. When we got there to pick her up, I could immediately tell something was off. During the final walkthrough, the trainer was rude and dismissive. Every concern or question we had was answered with comments like “there wasn’t enough time” and more pushing for us to leave her longer if we wanted “better results.” While we were still there, we noticed she had really bad diarrhea. (With blood) They casually mentioned it had started the day before, but nobody thought to call us and let us know our puppy was sick while under their care. When we brought her home, she was extremely thirsty, lethargic, and her paws were badly irritated and almost bloody. The next day we took her to the vet, and she was diagnosed with stress colitis and a bacterial infection in her paws. She had to be put on antibiotics and medication, and we left with a vet bill of over $200. What upset me the most was the lack of communication and the complete lack of compassion. When I first contacted the business Mike apologized and told me the owner would contact me and try to make things right. Unfortunately, when the owner finally called me days later, the conversation was awful. He was rude, condescending, dismissive, and at one point yelling at me. Not once did he ask how my dog was doing or apologize for what happened. I explained that I have owned dogs, fostered dogs, and volunteered at shelters for years, and he told me that “doesn’t count” because I’m not a dog trainer. But honestly, you do not need to be a dog trainer to have common sense and recognize when a dog is struggling, sick, stressed, or not receiving the care they need. A dog cannot speak for itself. That is why communication and compassion matter so much. If my dog was clearly sick, having diarrhea, excessively thirsty, lethargic, and dealing with infected paws someone should have contacted us immediately instead of continuing training and trying to upsell us into paying for more weeks. We trusted this place with our dog, and I truly regret it. Expensive, unprofessional, and sketchy. The owner yelled at me during our conversation and eventually hung up on me simply because I disagreed with his attempt to convince me that everything my dog went through was “normal.” Instead of showing any concern for our experience or my dog’s health, he seemed far more focused on minimizing the situation and making me feel like I was overreacting. Not once did he sincerely apologize, ask how my dog was doing, or show any real compassion for what happened.

Apparently, providing a basic status update when you dog gets sick during training or, heaven forbid, taking an ounce of responsibility is far too much to ask of these "professionals." Don't hold your breath for an apology, either; they don’t do those here. As for the owner, they are truly a "visionary" in the field of being completely impossible. Why bother with a rational conversation when you can be lectured by a condescending pedant instead? Their ability to balance such extreme arrogance with total carelessness is almost impressive.
