Calm Canine Academy

I'm so happy we found Calm Canine Academy. We've been working with Ingrid on our rescue's multiple behavior concerns (dog reactivity, stranger reactivity, separation anxiety, and noise sensitivity) for a few months now and I cannot imagine going on this journey without Ingrid and CCA. Ingrid is incredibly smart, supportive, and insightful. She has helped us deepen our bond with our dog and troubleshoot a wide variety of issues. I love the virtual sessions, which allow us to keep our dog comfortable and relaxed while getting feedback in our home. Highly recommend booking a package for the "trainer in your pocket" service. I wish every person with a dog worked with humane and evidence-based trainers like the staff at CCA.

We just started their separation anxiety class and I have already learned more after attending the first 3 classes then I did reading 3 books on SA on my own. I wish I had started with them immediately when I realized that Bernie needed desensitization training. Not only is he making great progress in his separation anxiety, but, the class is very holistic, so we also understand how to better provide sufficient enrichment and exercise for a very active puppy.

I’ve been working with the CCA through their Separation Skills program. I appreciated all the available assistance in addition to the weekly class. I then signed on for their month long Graduate Program to learn how to transition my dog to maintenance work down the road. My dog Snickers has shown great progress and gone from panicking within 90 seconds after I left to going 4 plus hours by himself with the ability to self soothe and settle. They’re upfront and let you know this is a lengthy process (Think months not just a few weeks. Anyone claiming differently isn’t being truthful) but it is well worth it and absolutely works!!

The feisty fido 8-week course was literally life-changing for my dog with major fear aggression. She is now so much calmer. I love that these trainers do not use any method other than rewarding your dog for making healthy choices -- they do not condone punishment. My dog's life just got a major upgrade. Now we can manage her anxiety with so many helpful tips, including enrichment/management, socialization, medication, understanding of her biology, her triggers, what to reinforce and what to avoid. And it was really so simple. The first class alone made a world of a difference (but I would fully recommend the advancement of the skills over the full 8-weeks). Every dog deserves to be treated with respect in the way these trainers make sure to educate and advocate for. God bless these people who care so much for our best friends.

Calm Canine Academy was recommended to me by a friend, so I was so happy when I reached out and met Nicole, who offers in-person training in New York City. My French bulldog puppy, Winston, and I had 8 in-person training sessions with Nicole, and we learned everything from basic commands including sit, down, & wait, to leash walking skills, crate training tools, and recall. I love that Calm Canine Academy uses only positive reinforcement with dogs, and Nicole truly helped me go at Winston’s pace to ensure that he got the most out of his training. We practice everything Nicole taught us on a daily basis, and Winston is growing up into such a calm, well-socialized dog. And anytime I have questions, Nicole is a phone call or text message away. Nicole recently stayed with Winston for 4 nights while I was out of town, and she took such good care of him; I think as happy as he was to see me when I got home, he was equally sad to see her go! It meant so much to me to know that he was in such good hands. I highly recommend Calm Canine Academy to anyone who is committed to training their puppy.
