Canine Academy Columbus

We couldn't be more pleased with Canine Academy! We opted for the board and train program given we had a pretty challenging situation on our hands and they were so incredibly supportive, caring, and patient. Late last year we found a dog in our yard and no one came to claim her at the shelter. We decided to adopt her given the circumstances were not in her favor. She was people reactive and dog selective. At home we already had two dogs, one of which also had some undesirable reactions to strangers and particular dogs. We needed to integrate our pack and correct some behavioral issues. Given our situation, we had the help of Alex, Kayla, and Jacey. They were absolutely amazing! They were very communicative, sent several pictures and videos of their progress, and answered all of our questions. Not only did they show great care to our pups, they gave us the tools to become the leaders of our pack. I'm so pleased to announce that not only do all three dogs get along famously, but their behaviors at home are steadily improving as we grow and learn together. Our dog Lottie is a fun loving, excitable Aussie who loves to play, but sometimes her excitability gets the best of her. While she is very smart, she has “selective hearing” and has issues with recall unless food is involved. Our concern was that Lottie’s age, over 3, would render her untrainable… we were dead wrong! Canine Academy paired her up with Alex, and he forged a bond with Lottie very quickly and has completely transformed her without forfeiting any of her personality, she is still the same energetic pup who loves to play, but her ability to respond to commands and settle down is outstanding, even in just a few days post stay. Alex is an exceptional trainer and as a customer, we feel supported by him in perpetuity. Additionally, we felt that the team at Canine Academy were good communicators, and even gave us peace of mind when it was sub zero temperatures. They also invited us out for a tour of their grounds, a level of transparency that we were very impressed with. Thank you to Alex and thank you to the team at Canine Academy!

Meet Mr. Samuel Burns, who is now a distinguished gentleman after his stay at the Canine Academy. Sammy is a 6 month old miniature dachshund who according to the internet, are stubborn to train. However,after staying there for 5 days and spending time with his trainer Alex Ebert, Sammy learned how to do commands like place, sit, come, off, and walk. I’d also like to mention that during his stay, Alex and the care team had updated me via text more than once per day as well as send me pictures of Samuel. Alex even went the extra step to send us video updates so that we could actually see what Sammy was learning! I am happy that we decided to bring Sammy here for his manners training, definitely worth it!

Cannot speak more highly of our experience with Canine Academy. Alex was amazing with our Dogo Argentino and even more savvy with training education. From start to finish, we were updated daily on our dog’s progress with Alex. The videos sent from Alex were also detailed on clips on how to implement the training step by step which were greatly appreciated and prepared us well for pickup. Upon picking up our Dogo, Zeus, went from “boy” to “man”. By the end of the training, Alex showed us how he supported Zeus in controlling his own urges (which was the impetus of Zeus’ “lack of manners”). Alex spent over 2 hours with us at our take home session to make sure we were comfortable with the varying commands and very patient and knowledgeable with our detailed questions. Alex support continues passed the training and the open communication has been extremely useful since bringing Zeus home. We are beyond grateful for this experience and would highly recommend Alex at Canine Academy.
