Canine Behavior Solutions and Obedience

Our vet recommended calling Jodi when our rescue pup started reacting and resource guarding. We had never experienced anything like this and had called other trainers who weren’t the right fit. Jodi’s initial assessment was direct and informative and we decided to do the mixed package board and train with 6 months of weekly training. We are so glad we did. It has taken a lot of work and it was no quick fix, but after 5 months of working with Jodi we have a sweet boy that can relax and play, and now we know how to manage when things go off the rails. Jodi has helped train US every bit as much as she has trained our dog. Our pup is living a confident and happy life, goes to the vet like a champ, and is well adapted to using precaution (muzzle) to keep everyone safe. We have learned so much about our dog and ourselves through this process, and Jodi is an excellent teacher.

I've been working with Jodi for almost a year and will continue to work with her for the foreseeable future. She is incredibly knowledgeable and the progress we've seen is something I wasn't sure was possible. If you are struggling with reactivity, I cannot recommend Jodi enough. But anyone dealing with reactivity should understand it’s not a quick fix. We have two boxers, Fiona and Emmett. Emmett is 6 years old and has a history of being reactive and causing fights with his housemates. We would have to avoid all dogs on walks, he would bark and snarl if he was in the car and we drove past a dog, he would cause fights because he couldn’t read social cues, etc. I struggled for years trying to find the right person to help us. It wasn't until I found Jodi that we started to make any progress. Jodi drives to our house in Louisville, weekly, for training. Often bringing one of her own dogs to work with Emmett. The controlled exposure to other dogs is an invaluable part of our training. She has evolved my understanding of Emmett's reactivity, which I definitely contribute to our success. She’s not only training Emmett, but she’s training me. While we still have a long road ahead of us, it’s incredible to see the changes in Emmett. He can calmy look at other dogs (from a distance, for now). We taught him to lay down in the car so I can drive him places without issue. He’s had positive close-up interactions with several of Jodi’s dogs. He’s even had a few play sessions, which were something I never thought possible. He is better behaved with guests in the house. It’s so rewarding to see how his overall behavior has improved. If you have a reactive dog and are committed to dedicating the time to training, I cannot recommend anyone else except Canine Behavior Solutions.
