We take reviews and concerns about animals in care seriously, but we also believe it is important to provide the full context when a review contains claims that do not accurately reflect what occurred. This client came to us with a pitbull terrier with a significant history of severe aggression towards humans. We were informed that he had previously bitten the owner and family member, including incidents that resulted in serious injuries and broken bones. This was as 70 pound pitbull, making the potential consequences of an uncontrolled and unprovoked bite or attack even more serious. During his stay with us, we experienced the severity of his aggression firsthand. He repeatedly lunged at our staff, attempted to bite multiple staff members, and demonstrated behavior that made safely continuing his training extremely difficult. He also while unprovoked attacked and bit our lead trainer and owner, while latched onto his hand he began to shake his head violently. The severity of the attack left several deep puncture wounds and caused trauma to the injury site requiring emergency medical care and x-rays. Following that incident, it became clear we could not responsibly continue the training. Given the dog's history, the severity of his aggression, his size, age, strength, and the behavior we personally experienced, we recommended that behavioral euthanasia be seriously considered as an option. This was not a recommendation we made casually or because we were unwilling to work with him. It was made because we were genuinely concerned that the next incident could result in someone being seriously injured or worse. The safety concerns and potential liability were clearly explained. A 70 pound pitbull with this history and level of aggression getting lose or encountering another person, animal, or unfamiliar environment could have extremely serious consequences. Despite the seriousness of those concerns and the injuries that had already occurred, the response was that she would rather "wait until it happens again" to decide further possible action. Then she would consider the options. We find it extremely concerning. When a dog already has a documented history of serious bites and has already caused significant injuries, waiting for another person to be hurt before taking the situation seriously is not something we could ethically support. Our responsibility is not only to the dog and its owner, but also to our staff, other clients, other animals, and the public. We also want to address the claims that our staff neglected this dog, left him in urine and feces, or did not care about him. Those accusations are completely inconsistent with the care provided by our team. We care about every animal entrusted to us, but caring about an animal does not mean ignoring dangerous behavior or putting people at risk. We will not publicly disclose every detail of private client relationship or the dog's training records. However, we also will not allow a situation involving severe, documented aggression and serious safety concerns to be portrayed as though our facility simply failed or refused to help this dog. Our recommendation was made because we took the situation seriously. We believe waiting for another person to be seriously injured was not acceptable option. Our priority will always be the safety of the animals in our care, our staff, our clients and the public. We stand behind the decisions we made regarding this dog. They were made based on behavior and history we personally witnessed, the injuries that had already occurred, and our responsibility to protect people and animals from a potentially dangerous situation. We will advocate for the safety and well being of the dogs in our care, but we will never put our staff, clients or the public at unnecessary risk. We sincerely hope that moving forward, the seriousness of this dog's aggression is recognized before another person or animal is seriously injured. Canine Coach & Wellness.

Thank you for your feedback. Were sorry to hear you're unhappy with your groom. Based on the instructions provided at check-in, your dog's body was shaved as requested while the head, ears and tail were left longer, exactly as discussed. The only necessary adjustment was the base of her tail, where there was matting making it uncomfortable to leave or continue de-matting procedures. This was explained to you at pickup. Additionally leaving the matted area untouched which would've resulted in an uneven, unblended haircut that would not have looked finished or clean. Removing that section was necessary both for your dogs comfort and to create the cleanest, most balanced result possible. Were also surprised by your review because, at pickup, you told us you loved the haircut, tipped your groomer, said you'd be back, and even recommended that your son bring his dog in for a nail trim shortly afterwards. Our top priority is always the safety, comfort and well being of every dog in our care. While we do our best to accommodate every grooming request, matting sometimes requires adjustments to ensure a safe, humane, and professional groom.
