Canine Obedience Training at Hunt Club

We would have loved to work with Dory, the reviews were amazing. But as soon as my husband asked about prong collars and e-collars, it was as if we were talking with a completely different person. We have another dog who was trained with a prong collar and e-collar. She automatically assumed that we had sent that dog to a franchise for $4-$5k. When we actually went to a family owned business (MN) that started with him as a puppy and worked our way up to those collars. She then labeled us as abusive dog owners for wanting to use those collars when we would just like to keep it consistent with our other dog. She then stated that the only reason we would use a prong collar was if our Cane Corso was aggressive. Which he is not, never bitten or been aggressive with any other dog. Never been aggressive with people, he’s only 8M old. So we obviously were shocked by the unprofessional response/attitude when we were just asking questions. Thank you Dory for automatically labeling our 8M old Cane Corso when you’ve never even met him.

After completing private and beginner group classes with my rescue dog Figs. Dory has given me confidence with his training which in turn has given him confidence. She moves at the dog and owners pace and really holds the owners accountable for the dog’s success. Her private and group classes are flexible and she really accommodates to people’s schedules. Our first meeting, my dog aggressively lunged at her and she immediately taught me the best way to keep strangers safe, how to safely control my dog, and what to do and say to people approaching my dog. SHE DOES NOT USE PRONG OR SHOCK COLLARS💕 Which was exactly what all the other trainers we had talked to suggested. Owners need to put in the time and work with the tools and knowledge that is learned during the training sessions for continued success. While Figs has come a long way, we are continuing our training journey with Dory until he is the best, most confident boy he can be. I believe She can help get us there!

We adopted Stitch, a six year old beagle mix in November 2025. My wife told me that I had to train him (and ME). However, due to our upcoming scheduled obligations and trips, I didn’t start right away. We did start training with Dory in April, and we are doing great! We started out with private lessons because Stitch would bark at EVERYTHING, other dogs, squirrels, a leaf, the wind. You know, he’s part beagle. Also, he was an abuse/neglect case, and as we were adopting him, the rescue covered his vet dental - and they had to remove 37 teeth! He only has the two lower canines left. So food and treats are a challenge. I mention this because positive reinforcement is key to training success. Dory gave us the idea for a great training treat, and it’s been key to how well Stitch has been progressing. We completed our private lessons and have noticed a HUGE improvement in Stitch’s behavior. Dory invited us to observe one of her group classes and we all were impressed with his reaction to the room of unfamiliar dogs. Dory taught me on how to lead Stitch to modify his barking (though non-aggressive behavior) when he sees other dogs. After his initial vocalizations at the class, I applied the techniques Dory taught me and we were able to walk Stitch around the class and not a peep from him! We’re looking forward to continuing his (our) training with Dory’s group lessons soon!
