I do not leave many online reviews, but wanted to take some time to share about my experience with CPI. Firstly, I am a returning customer. My wife and I purchased our first CPI dog, Ranger, in 2019. I conducted extensive research, and after speaking with a number of companies, clients from those companies, and conducting some follow-up, I felt that CPI provided the highest quality of dogs and training available. Additionally, they seemed to have a solid, longstanding reputation. Though the customer service at that time was somewhat underwhelming, we were not disappointed in our dog. Ranger was an exceptional dog with outstanding training. He turned on and showed aggression at the slightest command, and we always felt extremely confident in his protection capabilities. We know for certain that having him kept our family safe on several occasions, and I’m sure many more that we did not even realize. In addition to his outstanding protection, Ranger excelled in obedience and traveled with us via airplane when we went on vacation. He was a wonderful, sweet companion that loved our family with his whole heart. I speak about Ranger in the past tense because sadly we lost him just before his fifth birthday in a tragic accident. After it happened, my wife and I reached out to CPI’s new owners, Alex and Abby, and shared the news with them. They invited us to Dallas where we went to lunch and took them a memorial photo of Ranger. We were grieving our loss, and they understood how much it helped to be around dogs that were of the same caliber and mission that Ranger was. Alex and Abby had taken over ownership of CPI after we got Ranger and we had already been in communication with them about possibly bringing Ranger for some refresher training. Alex and Abby generously gave us the majority of their day, but at no point did they attempt to sell us another dog. They understood that we were grieving and kindly helped us. They had previously said how much they consider CPI dogs and owners to be like family, and they truly treated us as such that day. We had told Alex that we were not in any rush to find another dog, but we knew that after having Ranger, we wanted to have another dog that was of the same caliber. Alex told us he would work with us to find the right match if we so desired. While I had a good relationship and experience with CPI, I still conducted my research once again - but it was a no brainer that CPI was the right choice. This time, the customer service/communication that had been lacking under the previous owner, was outstanding. Alex and Abby took the time to get to know us, our girls, and our lifestyle. They felt they had two dogs that would be a great match and invited me to meet the dogs in their own environment to see if we thought they would be a match. They were both great dogs, but Cleo stood out. We purchased Cleo in October of 2023. Alex and Abby provided us videos and updates as he was finishing up his training. They took Cleo home weeks before they delivered him to us to ensure he was properly finished and was used to living in a home environment. Upon delivery Alex had a plan on how to transition Cleo into our house and how to introduce him to our children. We have had Cleo for several months now, and he is wonderful. He is complete off-leash obedience trained, and we rarely even bring a leash with us. He goes with us everywhere. CPI’s policy is not to leave a customer until they are 100 percent confident they can handle their dog in public and handle the dog in a life threatening situation. That confidence came very quickly for us with Cleo. I cannot say enough about our experience. We would recommend CPI to anyone no matter their lifestyle. I think the biggest compliment I can give - other than the caliber of their dogs - would be to say that they will not sell you any dog they have just to make a sale. Alex takes extensive time to match the right dog with his customers, takes great pride in his customer service, and treats clients as if they were family.

Our first experience with a protection dog was disappointing. The dog turned out to be a good pet, nothing more. I decided to try again a few years later but did more research this time around and found CPI. The entire experience and the dog we purchased were night and day different from our first protection dog. Alex was very professional during the entire experience, from the initial inquiry through the delivery and continues to remain responsive and helpful in follow-up. Our dog, Ox, is an amazing protection dog. He's absolutely the most loving and loyal dog we have ever owned. He is great with our Yorkie, other dogs as well as children. You really would never know he was a working dog by his demeanor and personality. Everyone who meets him is amazed at how well behaved he is. Now, when it's time to protect he's a different animal. Ox is extreme in protection. At first it was almost scary to handle him because of his intensity and strength. With the great training we received from Alex during delivery and follow-up it became almost effortless. Now it's actually a blast for me. My wife and daughter can both handle him in protection no problem. I work as a part time deputy sheriff and know quite a few of our local police K9s. I'd take Ox over any of them. He's that insane in protection. Like most things in life, you get what you pay for. CPI's dogs are certainly not cheap but they are absolutely worth the price of admission. High quality working dogs, great training and top tier customer service won't be found at bargain prices, period. Security for my family is priority #1 so I am thinking about adding another protection dog to the household in the next year. Alex is a genuinely good guy and a great trainer so CPI will be the only place I look.
