Canine State of Mind

We own a Great Pyrenees mix in a condo in the city. Should he be on a farm guarding livestock? Of course he should, but seemingly that is not his journey. He's a big pup who has been a bit misunderstood (even by us as we'd never owned a dog like him) and a little unpredictable (eg. he's bitten people). We worked with Sasha on how to better understand him and his behaviors, and it's helped. And when we travel, he goes out to her farm to stay, where we know he's happy and well cared for. Thank you, Sasha, for loving him, and giving us some freedom over the past five years.

Canine State of Mind is a true 5 star experience and I cannot recommend them and Sasha more vigorously for boarding, adult dog education, and the Embodied Alpha Masterclass. I felt compelled to leave this review because 1) I have been so pleased with the experience, but 2) I initially found Sasha and Canine State of Mind through reviews after some frustrating experiences with other dog professionals in Chicago. I am here to tell you that the rave reviews you are seeing for Canine State of Mind are accurate! I sought out Canine State of Mind because I had cut ties with the longstanding dog walker / dog sitter arrangement that I had with a local company for the 4 years we have had our dog, Bailey. They absolutely were well meaning and wonderful people but there was a critical skill set missing from their services that ultimately created a stressful environment for both my dog and the caretakers given their ill-equipped manner of handling my dog (and other dogs in the neighborhood, where the issues erupted). I was in a deep need for a solution where I could feel safe and comfortable leaving my dog in someone’s care who wouldn’t call me to fly home from my vacation to rescue my anxious dog…something that happened twice with our prior arrangement. The best part is, Canine State of Mind didn’t just provide me with a safe, kennel-free boarding experience - they truly provided a spiritual retreat for my dog to be free and be on his own vacation AND allow us to reintroduce ourselves as the pack leaders to help address the root of Bailey’s anxiety and the disconnection that had occurred in our relationship. When people state in their reviews that it’s a life altering experience, it is not an exaggeration. Sasha is such a wonderful, intuitive soul who can communicate well to bridge the gap between human understanding and canine behavior and “language.” My relationship with Bailey has never been stronger and I really feel that the weight has been lifted off of his shoulders, he is more at peace, free to be a dog, AND has a beautiful new farm to play at when we are out of town. I really cannot more strongly recommend Sasha (also her book and instagram are incredibly helpful supplements) and Canine State of Mind for your dog boarding and education needs. It is worth every penny and - quite frankly - Sasha has stuck with us every step of the way over the last several months, with check ins and advice as we navigate our new way of being as a pack. We are happy that she’s a part of our pack now too! 😀 If you are feeling like conventional dog training and services are not meeting your needs for your dog, you are correct! Conventional “wisdom” and the pet industry have all led us astray — Sasha and her team will bring everything back to basics and allow you to enrich your dogs life in a way that is meaningful and understandable for them! I can’t thank them enough and just plainly wouldn’t be comfortable with anyone else! Don’t hesitate. It won’t just be your dog who benefits - but the whole family system/pack!

Canine State of Mind and Sasha are fantastic! My dogs have been board with her for over 4 years and she is truly the only person I trust to watch them when we go away. They have also completed several trainings with her which has provided both the dogs and myself so much valuable information on how to make their lives the best. What drew us to boarding with Sasha was knowing that the dogs wouldn’t be locked in a kennel while we were gone and that they were going to get to spend time outside. Whenever they come back they seem well looked after and tired from all of their activities.
