Alot of programs hold class one day a week and only for an hour. That is not a sufficient amount of time to be able to retain all the information that you receive. Prentice gives you the ability to come once a day for the entire duration of your levels program. He is extremely passionate about training and makes it a point to set you up to succeed. Even if it means working with you longer than planned. He wants all of his clients to achieve their goals and even surpass them. Prentice is teaching high level obedience to your every day pet dog. If you follow his instruction and dedicate real time and effort you absolutely will see results in your dog.

Prentice has been awesome to work with. Miles (Am Staff) and I are holdover customers from the previous owner, where we learned to use an e-collar to correct for most situations. While that helped us solve some immediate issues, we've made some big strides in more permanent training under Prentice. He's helped me learn the proper positive- and negative (removing toys/food/etc) reinforcement techniques in addition to fixing issues with the correction-based training we had received. Prentice has done a good job of teaching us how to use selective feeding and a mixture of high- and low-value treats to increase food drive that quickly teaches new behaviors that stick. Dog training isn't just training the dog. It's also training the owner. And those that start down this journey should realize that you get what you put into it, that some get it faster than others, and that some dogs are easier to train (even in the same breed). Prentice has done a great job of working within my and my wife's comfort zone while still pushing us to place further and further levels of trust on our dog. He's done a good job of balancing my wife's preference for training a "pet" dog training with my desire for a "working" dog to give us a pup that we get both out of and love. Prentice's facility is clean and spacious for indoor training in the colder months. The location is also well suited for training outdoor in the warmer months which makes for a nice change of pace and further solidifies behaviors in different situations. He's also our go-to for any boarding needs - we've left Miles with Prentice for anything from daycare to a single over-night to weeks of boarding and he always comes back healthy and happy. Prentice is a true professional who recognizes all the tools in a trainer's toolbox. He's extremely capable of reading the dog and their owner to fit a training program and regimen to help them be successful and doesn't just use a cookie cutter basic obedience program for everyone and every dog. I can't recommend him enough!

Prentice Kidd has a very unique approach with k9 training. Unlike many board and training companies in the chicagoland area which use old school training methods, he uses a much more realistic approach. I have gone through several trainers with my 4 legged child Lupo over the last 2 years and finally found a home for Lupo. I highly recommend Chicago k9 company to any dog owners regardless if they are puppy or an adult dog with many issues.
