Chucktown Charley

Chucktown Charley is a truly 5-star boarding/training/day care retreat. I seriously could not recommend them more highly! Everyone from the owners to the techs to the trainers are so knowledgeable and qualified. I brought my 4 year old rescue pup Biscuit to trainers Allison and Amanda, as he had been exhibiting some escalating anxiety aggression issues with other dogs and occasionally humans. I was so nervous about the process -- we left him in Chucktown Charley's care for 5 weeks! -- but I could tell from our first phone conversation that this was needed if we were going to be able to get our pup to a happy/healthy place. The owner, Janie, was great communicating with me from the beginning through pick-up about his stay at the retreat, making sure he got his meds, and sending occasional photos of him with his new doggy friends! Alison sent weekly update emails as well with great video illustrating Biscuit's progress. Upon picking him up, the trainers gave us a deep rundown of what our new protocols would be with Biscuit, and the difference in his personality was so apparent. He was calmer, more relaxed; and this has continued on since he's now back in our home. We're keeping up with the training techniques we were taught, and Biscuit is doing so well! He's a new dog and we're so glad we did this for him. When my fiance and I go on our honeymoon for 3 weeks we are bringing Biscuit back to Chucktown Charley for boarding, as they are the only boarder I would trust -- knowing they'll keep to his training protocols and ensure he's safe and happy!

I can't say enough great things about Chucktown Charley and their sister company Well Mannered Dog. We enrolled our puppy, Ninja in Well Mannered Dog's puppy train and play program. This was the best decision we could have made. Chucktown Charley picked Ninja up and dropped him off at our downtown home, 4 days a week for 5 weeks making the process easy for our busy work schedules. This program taught him basic commands, socialization, potty training, and so much more. The cost was reasonable for the priceless training he received. Ninja is now a regular at day care and my husband and I can leave town with peace of mind knowing that there is a trustworthy place for Ninja to stay. This isn't just a daycare facility with dogs put in a room to roam around for hours on end. There is a structure for the day, they even have a nap time - which is great for every dog - especially our 7 month old pup. They know the animal's body language, and teach the dogs proper socialization. Chucktown Charley is more than just a place our dog goes while we are at work, they truly care about each dog and have helped my husband and I raise our puppy!

Chucktown Charley is a great place to bring your four legged baby for daycare, grooming, training and boarding. They treat every dog as an individual and really pay attention to their needs. If your dog needs other dog attention, they will get it. If they prefer to play alone or just with people they will get that too! They don't just throw all dogs together and hope for the best. They work on training with your dog so there is mental stimulation along with the physical. They are flexible with hours, if u are running late every once in a while they understand! Can't say enough great things about this place!

We take our 6yo lab mix Emma with us everywhere but, when we have to board her we bring her to Chucktown Charley. We just recently were away for 9 days celebrating our Honeymoon and Emma enjoyed her own vacation at Chucktown Charley! It was great being able to see pictures of her on Facebook while we were gone. Their staff is always so friendly and you can tell how much they love the dogs that stay with them. I can't recommend them enough!
