The client failed to read the contract and must sign the contract PRIOR to even paying for the services or services scheduled. Client did not read the contract and then wanted to cancel a few days prior to scheduled training which had been set for over 2 weeks and states in the contract any cancellations less than 14 days there is no refund on deposit. I ALWAYS invite people to come out look at training talk with clients etc prior to paying for or scheduling services. If I had wanted to keep all the deposit I very well could have due to the wording of the contract which any business will have to protect themselves. He wanted me to train his dog in a way that I was not willing to due to him not understanding dog behavior and him not understanding how training works. I have ethics behind my training and will NOT train a dog for someone if I do not agree with what they are wanting me to do. No amount of money will change that. He then wanted to cancel and threatened legal action. I refunded a portion of his deposit not due to any threats of legal action but coming to a middle ground since the client did not do their due diligence in the beginning by reading the contract and understanding why there are contracts in place for a business. He is upset because he failed to read something and just agreed to it not due to any fault or misunderstanding on my end. Dates dog was signed up. Date contract was signed and date off email where he cancelled. Also date inboard drop off was scheduled. The training classes there is no refund after the first week as It takes time to train a dog and does not happen overnight.
