Citizen K9 Dog Training And Agility

my husband & i are SO GRATEFUL we found citizen k9! after working with several other dog trainers in the area, CK9 is by far the best. brandy & chris clearly have such genuine care for the dogs and people they work with. they are kind, understanding, excellent at what they do, and fun to work with. we have had our dog go to CK9 for day care/ training, the 2 week in board training, and gone with him for numerous training classes. we are kinda crazy busy, and theyve been super flexible with us on scheduling and even with allowing our parents to come to classes when we could not. i was also suuuuuper impressed with the trainer to trainee ratio in class -- it allowed for a LOT of 1:1 personalized instruction. we worked a lot with chris, and he was no short of wonderful. he was constantly offering helpful individualized tips and asking for any questions. super approachable, and goes above and beyond. once after session had ended, i was having trouble getting my dog in the car and he volunteered unprompted to show me a technique to handle it without increasing my dogs apprehension. it still takes CONSISTENT WORK at home to make changes, but we could appreciate significant improvements in our communication/training skills and our dog's responsiveness after putting in this time. we just didnt have the time to put in on the front end, and it has been worth every penny. we also gifted the trick class to our parents and their dog and it was such a fun bonding experience for them! basically, if you're looking for someone to help you train and connect with your furry companion, 10/10 recommend signing up with CK9.

Our dog is completely changed for the better, and I attribute that solely to Citizen K9's top tier trainers! We adopted my dog from a local shelter and were told about his tragic background. He was either a bait dog, or an actual fighting dog as evidenced by the scars all over his body. Once he was picked up by the shelter, his assigned foster also abused him. When we intially adopted him, he was afraid of the world and everyone/everything around him. He had issues walking into new spaces, and being introduced to other dogs. We brought him to Citizen for a 4-week boarding session. We were walked through the process both over the phone and in-person. We received updates on our boy's status every other day with videos and a write-up from the staff. When we picked up our boy he was playful with other dogs, and eager to explore. We were also provided with an in-depth walkthrough of the work the trainers did and how we can employ techniques at home to get the similar results at home. As a bonus, we were also given access to courses for further training at their site. Citizen K9 laid down amazing fundamental work for us to build on, and I cannot recommend them enough.

I am so grateful for all of the crew I've met at Citizen K9. Brandy is a disciplined, logical, and empathetic trainer. Sheila is an efficient and fun front desk representative. There are a few other team members that I'd say are also responsible for training, but may be more like docents for lack of knowledge on my part, and those folks are Brianna, Marissa, and the guy I don't think I ever got your name (my bad!)--they're just genuine dog-loving, hard-working people. They have an online interface for making reservations, paying for services, uploading documents, and receiving photo/video report cards with comments that is pretty awesome, albeit has so many menu options it might seem complex. These report cards? SO awesome. I'll try to attach a video here. If you're scared of the cost of some of their services, especially big things like in board training over 2 or 4 weeks, I just have to say it is w o r t h it, w o r t h it, worth it. Our pup, Cloud, is a normal healthy puppy. But two normal dog parents and a normal wheaten terrier puppy doesn't mean things are manageable, right? So, we turned to Brandy's business based on how she describes her program on the website. Our Cloud is so obviously enriched and 5 times more disciplined after every visit or stay. And we agree with Brandy that a lot of it is on us as pet owners to also become disciplined in communicating with our dog. So, how amazing is it that with boarding services you also get 8 free one hour group classes that you can bring any of your household to, to strengthen continuity and consistency?? This is not just some retail oriented, gleaming big-box business. This is a focused training and boarding facility, and Brandy has done an excellent job with creatively using the space she has in this particular part of Norfolk. The online FB group is optional once you start using their services, but I've found it reassuring for it's support and for any updates. And yes, as a woman, I think it is pretty reassuring to see so many other women working here and with such confidence. Can't say enough good things--Thank you, Citizen K9!!!! The video in the concrete lot is not the only area where dog's interact or train with the business-owner Brandy, obviously. Next to this lot is the faux-grass area you see in the other video and photo, which were part of a report card.

This place is awesome! My dog Rondo and I loved everyone we interacted with. We worked closely with Brandy who who was exceptional. She is very knowledgeable, calm, caring, and clearly skilled as a trainer. The growth that I saw from Rondo over the eight classes was incredible. Our goal was to practice and take the Canine Good Citizen test and Brandy made sure he was ready to not only pass it but succeed for the future. I would recommend Citizen K9 to anyone looking for dog training.
