CLE Unleashed

An American Bully named River adopted me in January, and because I don't know anything about the first 8 years of her life, and because she has strikes against her based on being born a particular breed, and because she was very over-excited when she saw other dogs during our walks, I've been very hesitant to introduce her to other dogs. I learned about CLE Unleashed pack walks several months ago, but didn't think River was ready for it. We worked very hard on leash skills and she's come a very very long way since adoption, and has improved so much that I finally felt like we could try the Pack Walk. I thought it was going to be just that -- a walk, and figured we'd hang back 10 ft or so behind, but that's not really what it is, and it totally surpassed my expectations in the best possible way. The pack walk is a lot more than just walking. There was some introduction to basic agility, training, and a variety of activities and exercises. Dogs are very mentally stimulated the whole time, in a very positive way. The Trainer, Marta, was outstanding. It felt like she gave individual attention to every one of the ~20 dogs and their parents, while simultaneously being very aware of the full group dynamics the whole time. It's also clear she really cares and this is not just a job to her. And she's extremely knowledgeable. River came back so happy because she actually got to be a dog among dogs for the first time since I got her, and because the walk was run so well, she had a miraculous transformation. It's funny - we walk 3-5 miles per day, but she came back much more exhausted from this than she does from a five mile walk because there was so much mental stimulation. I also used to take my Pom mix (who sadly passed away) to CLE Unleashed for swimming. The person in charge of that was also outstanding, and I was so impressed with the cleanliness of the pool and facilities. I highly recommend CLE Unleashed, and hope River progresses enough that she can eventually try out day care!
