I can’t emphasize enough how rare those skills & qualities are in the field of canine education. In terms of top-notch dog trainers, they are the BONEafide real deal. Within the past year I’ve had my first experience raising a working breed pup. I recognized my personal training limitations (it’s an evolving list 🤦‍♂️), and I considered the proper introduction & use of an E-Collar as paramount on that list. After a handful of conversations and/or consultations with dog trainers based in the Triad and Charlotte, I was skeptical of enrolling my pup in any of their courses. In my experience, most trainers tried to push their generic programs - promising miracle results - rather than hearing the concerns and goals I had for my little lady wolf, and planning a suitable course of action around those. I’d reached an impasse on the direction to take with E-Collar training and happened upon an employee of Co-Op K9 at the park. She had a pack of calm, obedient, dogs just chilling out on the grass and my pup had me tied up in her leash with one of my gloves in her mouth. I scheduled a consultation with Co-Op K9 as soon as I made it home. My consultation was with Megan. I handed Megan the leash and watched as she said very little to my 60lb wild-child pup, yet she used leash pressure to calmly & confidently make the dog do exactly what being communicated to her via the leash, all while attentively listening to my issues and offering feedback. Amazing! My main goals with the use of an E-Collar were recall and immediate correction when my dog was at the edge of overstimulation to prevent her from becoming a piranha-crocodile-wolf-shark, ouch! Bayley was our E-Collar course trainer and she was fantastic! Additionally, Bayley taught me many more uses with the E-Collar outside of recall and correction and shared valuable training exercises that I use daily. Ultimately, I needed as much (read: more) training than my dog, and Co-Op K9 overdelivered. Just a few months ago, I was terrified of letting my dog off leash. She was an opportunistic mad-dasher. With the E-Collar and proper training, now I’m truly confident going off leash in the field or at a park with my dog under supervised and appropriate conditions. Like the leash, collar, and obedience commands, the E-Collar is a tool that I use to protect my dog. I am sincerely grateful to have found Co-Op K9 and taken my pup through their E-Collar program. I cannot say enough good things about Co-Op K9! I worked with Bailey on training my fearful and reactive dog and within 6 weeks the difference is unbelievable. She’s much calmer and more confident in the world, during car rides, and on walks. They teach you in a super clear way so that you’re set up for success and can apply the knowledge to other situations (oh you’re scared of storm drains now? Cool!) Meeting with Megan and Bailey immediately put me at ease and made everything seem so much less intimidating. I would absolutely recommend the Co-Op K9 team to anybody that wants to make their dog’s life (and their own) so much better!
