Companion Dog Club

Was looking to do something fun with our dog over the winter and signed him up for a class. However, I was thoroughly disappointed by the quality of instruction and willingness of the leaders in the organization to listen to feedback. A lot of the sessions was spent listening to the instructor, which was fairly boring, and especially my dog became fairly impatient, as he was having a hard time just sitting around, when he was not able to be exposed to many other dogs throughout the rest of the week. Could barely hear the instructor and no help whatsoever was offered in what to do to get my dog to calm down. In fact, I was told I should be doing something to discipline him but really not what in particular, even though I was there to LEARN what to do in those circumstances. It was suggested I use a prong collar, which I found appalling, as we have a very well behaved dog and really just needed good instruction and a little help working through some more difficult situations using POSITIVE reinforcement. After attending half of the sessions, I really had had enough and decided to drop out. I sent an email to the leaders of the organization, letting them know of my concerns, providing feedback. Instead, I was accused of not taking a more active role in making sure this was a good experience for me and my dog. Extremely poor customer service, really. I should not have to be guilted into not being able to say something about the quality of their classes because it is provided by people volunteering their time. I asked for a prorated refund and told I would receive this. However, I never did. Would not recommend this place to anyone who wants to build a better relationship with their dog and learn how to train their dog using positive reinforcement.
