I don't like leaving negative reviews but my experience with CPT was horrible. I signed my 4 month old German Shepherd up for the basic obedience program in 2015. One of the specific reasons I chose CPT is that their owner claims to be an expert working with the GSD breed. My dog had anxiety in the classes and one of the most important parts in training a dog is setting them up for success. That is a major step that the trainers at CPT seem to have forgotten. The first few sessions the instructor regularly said my dog is anxious and it will turn in to aggression. She NOT ONCE tried to work with him or offer me assistance. He's a 4 month old puppy, and they can't help ease his distress without trying to pass off their expensive at home training? I would bring him home and consistently and successfully complete the exercises. In the middle of the program, Solo required an emergency surgery that strictly limited his activity so we had to drop out. I will positively say that CPT did allow us to retake the program, this time with their owner (forgot his name). I assumed this would be a much more productive series of lessons. Again, throughout the entire session he refused to ever work with Solo. I even purchased an easy walker leash/partial muzzle in hopes the instructor would help me ease his anxiety. I won't say the failure is 100% CPT, but with their boasted level of experience and for the cost of the program I expected so much more. With them repeatedly telling me he is a dangerous and anxious dog to push their in home training, they would have needed to at least HOLD Solo's leash ONCE to show me they were capable of anything beyond cashing my check. They also allowed unsupervised children to run around the room, unleashed dogs not part of the class to wander and do their business on the floor. By the end of the classes, I actually developed an anxiety complex about taking my beautiful companion out for walks. 2 photos are of Solo at his surgery and right before a class.
