I have two senior dogs who used to react aggressively to any other dogs they see. When my dogs provoked a fight at a park (my dog lost, but nobody was seriously hurt) I knew I had to get them trained. They say you can't teach an old dog new tricks but as I found out that is not the case. Dogs love being trained and getting rewarded for doing what their humans want. Confident Canines will teach you how to change your dog's behavior without yelling or any negative reinforcement. Dogs do not respect anyone other than their humans so you will have to take a very active role in their training, and Eileen will give you all the tools you need to train your dogs. She is very good at sizing up trainees and figuring out the best approach for them. Even if you have a very good understanding of your dog's personality and think they're a lost cause, she will determine which psychological tricks will work to get them on the right path. After six sessions, my dogs have learned to anticipate training as part of their daily routine and will remind me that it is time to be trained in the evening. They have mastered the skill of leaving dropped food/treats on the floor whereas previously they would both scramble to be the first to grab it while growling at the other dog. They have each learned four new commands. The older, larger and more dangerous of my two dogs now looks to me in anticipation of a treat instead of aggressively growling at strange dogs at the park.
