Tom Kelly is a retired U.S Army Colonel with over 29 years of service. He has trained with Cesar Milan, Heather Beck, Martin Deeley, and Nelson Hodges. Tom is a Certified Trainer and Canine Behavior Specialist graduate of Starmark Academy for Professional Dog Trainers in Hutto, TX. He is also a CHRI-RBT certified trainer.

Do you provide ESA training and certifications?
ESA requires a Dr (psych)/ psychologist to prescribe the need for a dog as part of treatment. Having an ESA does not provide any public access rights except for housing.
There is no ESA certification.
There is training like Canine Good Citizen training and other public access training that is helpful to improving life for you and your dog— THAT I do!

I have worked with Colonel Tom over 1 1/2 years, since first adopting my dog. I started with a home puppy consultation, then continued with the group Foundations Course, then Obedience Level I course, then Challenge and Socialization group courses. I have been extremely happy with all I have learned from him. He helped guide me on how to crate train and potty train, as well as what I needed to do to socialize my puppy, then how to be a leader to my dog as she grew up. As a pup my dog tended to be very sensitive and get scared easily. Through following his foundational "rules" I noticed a big change in my dog's confidence. I learned mistakes that I was making with her. Then later on I learned how to teach her basic tricks and find activities that help make her mentally and physically tired....and contented! I hope to work with Tom in the future to get my dog certified as a therapy dog. Tom uses a good combination of directness yet patience with owner and dog.

Tom's Foundation class has been truly indispensable. My rescue dog Casserole is very sweet, but I struggled with understanding and addressing her reactivity. After 5 weeks of Tom's positive and professional training, guidance, and feedback Cassie and I are on our way to building a more harmonious, structured, and communicative relationship. We came to Contented Canines out of desperation. Our chihuahua has always had some pretty awful anxiety which has made living in our home together difficult and often, uncomfortable. After five weeks in the Foundations Training class, the change in her behaviors has been monumental. She still has moments where her anxiety comes through, but she and I now have tools necessary to achieve as much calm as possible. The price of class is worth every penny when you're able to see your dog becoming confident and more, "herself." We will be back!
