FirstBarkWe took the Foundation Training class with Tom for my dog, Rocky. Walks with Rocky were always so difficult - we could not get him to stop pulling on the leash. Within 15 minutes of training with Tom, Rocky was walking right next to us! Tom also gave us training tips that we could take home and use after the session. Loved his techniques and the results of the session!

Do you provide ESA training and certifications?
ESA requires a Dr (psych)/ psychologist to prescribe the need for a dog as part of treatment. Having an ESA does not provide any public access rights except for housing. There is no ESA certification. There is training like Canine Good Citizen training and other public access training that is helpful to improving life for you and your dog— THAT I do!

Tom’s Foundations course is premised on building respect and trust in our relationship with our dogs by implementing structure and consistency, and clarity of communication. It gave us five foundational steps to incorporate into our daily routines with our dogs, including fun games that pay off in a more relaxed and balanced dog, one that knows his human will keep him safe, and give him what he needs. Tom asks us to consider from the dog’s perspective what and how we are communicating, and whether it is clear to the dog. He breaks down the lessons into simple steps, demonstrates and allows us to practice and self-critique. He teaches us how to better communicate what we want through helping our dog to make the choices we actually want on its own. We do this by taking the end goal and breaking it into bite size pieces - sometimes, literally! I highly recommend this course for all dog owners, to gain a new perspective on the dog-human relationship, and useful foundational tools to help make living with your dog easy and enjoyable.
Tom Kelly is a dog genius. In just a short amount of time, he made me understand why my dog responds the way she responds. He is all about training the owner and making them understand their dog’s behavior. He wants you to succeed. The online guides and reference materials are invaluable resources you can digest in your own time, as many times as you need. Great investment in my dog and myself.
Tom’s foundation training was excellent for my 1 year old puppy. My dog is very high energy and can be reactive in unfamiliar situations and Tom’s program helped Leo develop some incredibly helpful skills and provided me with a toolkit to guide him in any situation. Leo is much more well-behaved and much more in control of himself and his energy. Thank you Contented K-9!!
